I was reading in New Scientist today that one of the leaders for SETI (Search for extraterrestrial intelligence) was stepping down. In an interview, she was asked who should speak for humanity if an advanced (peaceful) alien race was to make contact with our own. She said she had no idea, but SETI was considering crowdsourcing the idea to see who people in general believe should speak for humanity. So to facilitate this practice, I bring this question to you.

Who should speak for Earth in the event advanced, peaceful aliens visit Earth?

The United Nations. Their the ambassadors for earth and what any future "Earth Alliance"/whatever we call the eventual global government that bring humanity to the stars would most likely come from.

If your after one person, then Morgan Freeman would be the best choice, he does leader roles so well in movies

I don't think an ADVANCED and PEACEFUL alien race has any reason to be talking to us (on an equal footing). Just think about it, what could they possibly want that we could give them?

Perhaps they even have a non-interference directive (a la Star Trek).

But no, everybody goes along with the hypothesis, no matter how unlikely.
