Whoops! Blizzard May Need To Change Overwatch's Name

Balance between mechanics is fine, but centering all gameplay around it is setting specific ways for people to play the game instead of letting them play with it.

I dare you to go to the forums of DoTA, LoL or some other PvP-focused game, post "The Devs should focus on mechanics instead of balance" there and see how popular that choice would be.

Copyright laws are much different from Trademark laws. This is a trademark case.

Oh yeah... well I still consider it dumb, you shouldn't be able to call dibs on such a generic word.

Egh they changed Blizzard All Stars to Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard are usually pretty chill about changing names off the cuff.

I doubt there's going to be any drama attached to this case. Either they'll buy off the rights to the name, or they'll change Overwatch's title.

And that'll be it.

Wait... Could they now call the game Titanwatch? Or would that be too confusing of a name change?

Also, that "Overwatch" app sounds kinda boss...

Looks like some app company is getting a paycheck since it would likely cost blizzard more to re-brand their game at this stage. They can alternately throw in a second line to the name like most companies do to maintain the big word.

Like a certain company trying to call dibs on the words "Candy" and "Saga". Odd they didn't try for "Crush" but that let my game "Sweet Crush Tales" through the gate without issues so there's that.
