Just got done playing episode 3 of telltale's the Walking Dead which came out a few days ago. Decent episode, though not as good as the last. There weren't any decisions I really felt like I had to think over, the right way to handle each situation felt obvious me at the time, though in hindsight I guess there was a couple I could have thought over more.

This is undoubtedly the darkest episode so far though, I was really quite shocked with not only what they did, but the fact they were able to get away with it. It's truer to the comics than the TV show; no one is safe. This really was a blood bath.

What you guys think?

It doesn't work as well as a standalone story as Episode 2, but for people who have been following the series from the start, it's a real wake up call after the relatively optimistic ending of Episode 2. Although, the ending was bit too screwy for my tastes.

The ending was very sudden and a little overly "dun dun DUN!" I couldn't quite put my finger one why this episode was a little disappointing but I think you got it right, it doesn't really work as a stand alone. There's no coherent beginning, middle and end, it's just a road trip where a bunch of bad shit goes down and we picked up a couple of new characters.

I started off watching Warhorse with my grandmother and then, afterwards, played through Episode 3.

It was like having all of my emotions sucked out through my penis; exquisite but afterwards I wanted to kill myself. As an Englishman, sadness porn is like fine wine to me though I must confess that the experience of ep 3 was akin to having a kebab after a night of binge drinking.

This was my favorite episode because of what happened. It's amazing. It brought me to the verge of tears, so that's a good sign in my book. The ending was really sudden though, I felt it could have ended when they arrived in Savannah or something.

Quick note: Why is it in every zombie media thing, Savannah is always shown being ravaged? Left 4 Dead 2 did it and now this game. When the apocalypse comes my brother is screwed.

What we're all talking about made the episode, but I wouldn't say shocking or emotional moments make a good story unless they're backed up by actual good story telling. Even if this is the most emotionally draining and ballsy episode, I also think it had the weakest story structure. There were also a couple of moments of odd dialogue.

Still better than the majority of video game stories though.
