Gotta say Tony Stark. It might be a bit of a stretch to fit him as an anti-hero, but he's certainly not much of a heroic personality. He's an alcoholic, a womanizer, and it seems to me that the main reason he made the suit in the first place was to fix the harm that he'd done. It's not really for the sake of doing good, he does it as a way of self-validation.

Renegade Commander Shepherd, Geralt of Rivia, and Sam Fisher (from Conviction).

Well I'm gonna go with Kratos from God of War.
Well your avatar made me think of a very excellent example: John Marston

Also, yes, these are all true:
Frank Castle
Deadpool
Any Watchmen
Renegade Shepard

*I don't understand about Batman being an anti-hero though, maybe in Frank Miller incarnations, but not in straight DC stuff - unless I'm missing something*
Oh but of course! But he is out to redeem himself o_O but of course you can get bad karma and so on, but then there's also Van der Linde, who is IMO a awesome anti-hero :)

There's a distinct lack of Hellboy in this thread.

Hellboy is far more badass than all those guys. He will bring the apocalypse, and he likes cats and pancakes.

I prefer the punisher. Everything about him is so hilariously badass.
Same, most heroes don't have the balls to simply cap the bad guy in the face.

Also, does John Constantine count? He's one of my favourites. Nothing like a douchey British exorcist.
Constantine has to count! He is just freaking awesome! Love the comics :D

<--- Akumetsu

He becomes evil to destroy evil, and because he must kill all evil he dies with his target.

Read this manga, from chapter 2 onward you will be intrigued.

Moist Von Lipwig, from Going Postal and Making Money.
'course, he's more of a lovable rogue than an actual anti-hero. And he has a ridiculous name.
Even so, he rocks.

Don't forget the sliding scale of anti-heroes [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SlidingScaleOfAntiheroes] and the sliding scale of anti-villains [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains]. It's always fun to try and classify what type your favourite characters fall under. There's also a big contrast between type 1 anti-heroes and 2 onwards.

My favourite anti-hero is Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood and the manga, not the first anime series as his actions there are very different). He's all kinds of badass and pretty sympathetic too. He definitely starts off as type 5 but eventually cools down into a type 3.

Jack/Tyler from Fight Club would be my pick. A load of stuff he does is about fixing the ills of the world.

Rogue Trooper would be my second.

just about every British 2000AD era birthed "hero" is actually an anti-hero whether its Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, The ABC Warriors, Nemesis the Warlock, Sláine, Johnny Alpha, whatever
How about V from V for Vendetta?

Punisher all the way. It helps that they made that badass game. The voice acting was amazing.

It's a tough choice between

Technically most of the people in Baccano! are criminals, so you could almost justify any of them as being "anti-heroes". Even Claire/Vino/Rail Tracer is pretty good hero material, but I'd say that anyone with a reputation for being an incredibly brutal assassin fits more squarely in the "anti" pile.

But yeah, Ladd and Claire are bad ass. As bad ass as they get.
