Probably Yuna from FFX - she was well characterised and struggled to come to terms with what she had to do. Also she wasn't a bimbo or a take-charge ball buster.

I would have said Lara Croft if it wasn't for the overuse of her sex appeal now with just about every box cover art being at the perfect angle to show her off.

Also why does everyone like Alyx Vance? I thought her personality was like paper thin and she just went with the stereotypical "I'm a female sidekick I MUST fall for the main character". Granted I didn't get as into the story as it seems everyone else does but she's just not that great. And really I find her voice acting pretty dam bad

I agree with the OP about Francziska (sic). And Alyx Vance is a great example too. So many people obsessed with her, and she BARELY shows any skin. I would say Zoe, but that's just sort of taking out of the very same book.

Also, Jade from BG&E. She wasn't played up as any love interest at all, and unlike a hates-all character such as Lara Croft, she's actually pretty kind to the people helping on her adventure.

Alyx Vance seems to be the only one to come to mind. At least she could defend her self, unlike nearly every other female side-kick.
I never had any of the Metroid games, the consols I had didnt have them
