Despite being a heterosexual male, I have to say I am actually attracted to Adam Jensen of Deus Ex Human Revolution - maybe not sexually, but in pretty much every other respect. The guy is raw style with his arms, shades, and coat, has an amazing voice (Elias Torfexus I believe the actor's name is), and has a real great personality to boot. Pragmatic and intelligent, dark and troubled yet still hopeful and humorous, a perfect mixture of dry and chivalrous. A huge inspiration of my writing.
Along a similar train of thought, I really like Simon from Cry of Fear. No reason I can really think of, I just think I empathize and identify with him. Another huge inspiration for my own works.
As for the ladies, I really sincerely love Zoey of Left 4 Dead. She's also the best character I really think of that also walks the line of realistic, and sexy, and I think most of that comes from an amazing personality. Funny, facetious, and hopeful - but a bit crushed into the responsibility of a soldier and leader. She's the only character I can think of that makes me laugh in-game without missing a beat, and almost come to tears when I read her backstory - and that says a lot.
