I do agree with him when he points out the game flaws, because he is telling the truth about them. But that doesn't mean that I automatically hate every game that he reviews.

And he's a game "critic" so it's his job really to point out flaws.

I appreciate Yahtzee's cool hat.

Seriously though, I just find he takes a humourous and irreverent look at games and the trops that define them, then sticks his finger in their eye and says 'can you see what I am talking about?'

I suspect that metaphor didn't work.

I am okay with that.

The idea is that he develops and communicates excellent opinions in a humourous manner. What more can I ask? I often agree with what he says, even about games I like.

i also agree his humor makes the reviews intesting and funny to watch he makes good judgments and is not afraid to point out a games flaws, just sometimes he doesnt realise were in a society where games are made for money not enjoyment and an avrage gamer has an attention span of a goldfish.

Welcome to the world of Fanboys! They steal phrases, 'borrow' jokes and like what their personal Jesus likes because they think it makes them cool.

I don't agree with everything Yahtzee has said; there's been plenty of games I've loved that he's practically shat all over but I appreciate the humour in it, though some games yeah if they've been shit I've been inclined to agree! But I don't take his word as gospel, I'll just play a game for myself!

I normally disagree with Yahtzee on almost everything...I only watch it to see what he comes up with next.

He has an uncanny ability to make me agree with him.

Then again I disagreed on his Assassin's Creed and Metal Gear Solid 4 reviews (he said nothing about AC's perpetual breaking of flow, for one thing).

I don't agree with 99.9% of what he says. Its why I never read his "extra punctuation" articles because they arn't all that funny (to me) and contain nothing that I agree with.

What is the .1% of things we agree on you ask?

I think boobs are stonking great as well.
What, so you thought Alone in the Dark was a great revival of the classic series?

See, that's the problem with making sweeping generalizations, you can get tripped up VERY easily.

Like many people I agree with some points Yahtzee makes and not others. I wouldn't buy a game on his recommendation that's for sure.

The thing is - I don't necessarily agree with him and more than I would listen to most game critics. I have never bought a single game based on a review and find these days that if the publishers want to sell to me I need a demo or GTFO. I watch Yahtzee because I love the animations and like his turn of phrase, couldn't care less about the actual review content.

Of course i don't agree with him on every point, the people that do are just the regular fanboys they are also the ones bitching about every game that is remotely like the games they like. Yatz focuses on the bad aspects of a game that's the whole point of the show it's not supposed to be an objective review based on different aspects of the game it's just some dude bitching about games while talking very fast....and it's funny...that's all it's supposed to be.

I play very little games and the ones I have played I differ in opinion about 30% of the time. I don't like to comment on stuff I don't know about but he is a critic and therefore should do a good job, especially since he is a famous person in the critic department and often when reading his extra punctuation you get a better idea of what he meant in the rewiev itself.

i just take his reviews with a pinch of salt. His videos to me are purely for entertainment. Though if I really want a game, I might consider his opinion. but not just his opinion alone.

Not very often do I find my self in agreement with him.

When I like a video game, I do not let a "dirty Englishman who's never worked an honest day's work in his life" (himself) make me change my mind. He is quite comical, though.

This. There is A LOT of things I disagree with Yahtzee on, but there's also many things we agree on.

Yahtzee can't help but be a force for polarization; his primary tools are sarcasm and hyperbole, which both serve to exaggerate. Wherever there is exaggeration, one can expect a schism to form within an audience.
In this way, Yahtzee's reviews serve as a filter of the Escapist's audience: many of the Escapist users are either militantly pro-Yahtzee or militantly anti-Yahtzee. That generates lots of posts on topics about Yahtzee, which generates traffic, which keeps the little money hamsters at a nice gallop on the exercise wheel that is the internet.
I may have just blown your mind. I am sorry.
I agree with this post, however it is definitely worth mentioning that there are those fans out there like myself who watch it for the larfs. He knows how to take the piss and that's what I watch it for.
