Why all the hate on Nickelback?

I never understood. I really enjoy their music and see nothing wrong about them, but my friends claim that I'm "fucking retarded" and suggested that Ben Folds is better by an infinitesimal amount.

Can someone please explain kindly without flaming?

I believe the main reason is because a lot of their songs sound nearly the same.

I don't hate them, and I actually like a few of their songs.

I don't understand it myself. My friend was recently browsing my I-Pod and I had hero by them, it was declared "Gay" but, in 2002 after Spidey 1 came out, that was one of the most popular songs around, and I still like it. Maybe I'm just living in the past.

They reuse anything from the chords to the melodies between songs. Therefore, a shitload of their songs sound alike and are boring.

I simply really dislike their music, little more to it. Though the fans (not hinting at you, mind) along with fans of several other bands I could mention seem to be rather overbearing.

God, they're awful. The music all sounds the same, they have horrible lyrics, and just...bleh.

Go ahead and listen to them, I don't really care, but at 8 in the morning, when I turn the radio on, that is the last thing I want to hear. As other people have said...everyone has different tastes in music.

I hate their latest album. It's a peice of crap and made me loose all respect for them. It's so damn whiney and sounds like teenage pop music in my opinion. However, their older albums are win, I like them. The people that say those ones suck can blow it out their arse.
