Yes!

As a fan of anger, hate, agitation and its many interconnected forms I fully approve of hating things. "Discontent is the first step of progress of any man or nation" - Fortunazan Cookishu. Now in my observation whenever someone posts a "Why all the hate" thread posts turn apathetic and some complain things like "Oh god not another why all the hate, threads"

So really, are "why all the hate" threads really that bad? I mean its a web forum filled by people who like voicing opinions on any manner of subject, why look down at expressing some good ole fashioned Ire.

OT: Seriously I dont care one way or another, some are good, some are bland, I really just wanted to have that subject posted. As another side note, This thread is not search bar approved because when I used the search bar it dwelled on the subject confusedly like I managed to throw it into a circular logic loop that made it question the nature of its existence, but I havent seen such a topic recently.

I hate this thread, and by association everyone in it.
Harumph.

OT: I don't see a difference between the 'haters' (which is a sneaky tactic - like Creationist calling supporters of evolution 'Darwinists' thus implying that they worship good old Charlie and thereby implying that they are no more legitamate than the guys believing in the invisible sky-beings) and the people that make 'Why all the Hate on..." threads. Both have opinions and points as to why something is good or bad. I don't hate 'Why all the hate' - it's just a cleverly disguised VS thread.

Because they can almost always be answered with '[subject matter] is too popular', unless it's about, I don't know, Josef Fritzl or something.

Because it leads to flame wars and people pointing out the obvious reasons why they hate things and people wondering why the thread writer hasn't payed attention to the reasons for the hate.

People seem to enjoy whining about damn near everything for little or no reason.

First of, hate begins to destroy the hater before anything else.

Secondly, when creativity runs low, you could always bring up a "why the hate" topic on a recent, talk-active and a suppose fresh subject. In fact, I believe there is a thread up called "why the hate on Justin Bieber?"...
Whether that is a bad or good trait is entirely up for you to decide for yourself. But it has no creativity, undoubtedly.

Third of, an opinion filled with hate is not an opinion I myself want to hear since it can be very unrational. Many things are when mixed with that devious emotion.
As for you, it comes to personal taste. But I despise it.

This is just one guy voicing his opinion though.

I think there's been enough threads and annoyance by such threads that there should soon be a thread "why all the hate on why all the hate on why all the hate on [...] threads".

Heck, as long as it's entertaining I'm up for a good 'hate' thread or a 'why all the hate' thread. Usually the resulting divide across the thread, with the added standard 'it's pointless to argue /thread' replies make for good entertainment.

Because they are just as shallow as "What's the deal with X" threads. They don't promote any discussion beyond either "It's popular therefore it's cool to hate it" or "it's about personal preference".

Anything else can't really be discussed, as the OP is asking about the opinion of a large demographic and not individuals. What I mean by that is that if an OP had been asking what we thought about a game in general, that would at least be promoting discussion. However, not only are these threads one sided, promoting people to only spew either hatred or love for something, but they more often than not ask the question "Why do people think this", as in "Why do people think Halo is such a good game" or "Why do so many people hate Assassins Creed". It's questions no individual can answer because no individual knows how such large demographics think individually. Therefore, the only logical answer is "Personal preference".

While the possibility of discussion coming up in such threads is always there, it's still not promoting any discussion, which is what a forum is about. Without discussion threads would just turn into a facebook status update where people leave comments everyone else ignores except possibly the guy updating his status

Cmon now. Anger and hate has done some good things for this world.

Would we have the great wall of china, if a bunch of Chinese people didn't really hate Mongolians?

Would we have the United states of America, if a bunch of colonials didnt really hate being overtaxed?

Would we have went to the moon (yes, arguably) If we didnt hate the idea of the Russians beating us to it?

I think that asking the question and prodding for opinions is promoting discussion. As it was said above, invariably the answer to most of the "why hate" questions is that of a subjective opinion, but that is promoting discussion in order to see the variance of opinions to better understand the issue. By getting such opinions you might be exposed to a notion you may have never considered.

Yes.

A lot of what I've seen, (but not all mind you) the hate threads usually live off of misconceptions or ignorance to facts. So my own personal hatred of such threads comes from my low tolerance of people whining about things they don't understand or they generally know little about.

That and when it is over something justified, there's no need, for it's not like the issues that the OP of those threads are new! Most of the time they are issues that we all are aware of...

For example "Grr I hate MW2 because such n such mechanic is broken."

Which usually leads to responses like.

"No it's not broken, learn to counter."

Or

"Yeah, and?"

Or here's a more popular one "I hate sniping because it's a cheap tactic because I feel everyone should be charging in blindly with guns blazing so I can see and hear them coming, like I am!"

No... Just, no...

Harumph! Hey! I didn't get a Harumph out of that guy.

Anger is an energy.

That said it isn't really productive in any way to just vent bile in an anonymous forum on the interwebs.
