I didn't even play it, I just googled it and put it up to be honestScrabbitRabbit said:There are better browser versions, imo. This one doesn't even recognize the "eat self" command =[AC10 said:If anyone wants to play it, you can play it right in your browser here:

Right you are! I enjoy playing this version: http://pot.home.xs4all.nl/infocom/zork1.html Although the warning below about it potentially not saving is admittedly disconcerting...AC10 said:I didn't even play it, I just googled it and put it up to be honestScrabbitRabbit said:There are better browser versions, imo. If you got a better one you should put it in this thread!
Oh, so that's why nobody bought Skyrim!malestrithe said:Gaming has evolved to the point where we don't need to use our imagination to run games anymore.
Has anyone ever told you that you're a little condescending?MelasZepheos said:Personally I'm not playing Zorc for several reasons:
1. I have sex with women sometimes.
2. I play guitar to crowds of adoring people at others.
3. I'm writing a novel.
4. It's not 1977 anymore, and things have kind of come on a little way since then.
Seriously, I played Zorc once or twice when I was in university and had the time to divulge frustrating time sinks, but nowadays I prefer my adventures big and spectacular, and if I wanted to play an adventure game like that I'd probably pick one of the Ultima series anyway.
I would play it, but my copy was eaten by a Grue.ErwinGodfrey said:Well, why aren't you? This is most fun I've had in an adventure game(s) since Skyrim, and it doesn't even have any graphics what so ever.
Naw man he's just the kind of guy who plays current gen games and sometimes even has sex with women. Tell me that isn't something the internet has to know about.ErwinGodfrey said:Has anyone ever told you that you're a little condescending?MelasZepheos said:Personally I'm not playing Zorc for several reasons:

Ha ha ha, nah I guess he was right to assume that we give a damn about his sex life. I think he was also right to think that the status of one's social life is a deciding factor in what genre of entertainment you're allowed to enjoy. Totally not condescending at all, I apologize.Kahunaburger said:Naw man he's just the kind of guy who plays current gen games and sometimes even has sex with women. I don't play it because gaming has moved on from that point. I tried it, found newer games more appealing. Then I gave Zork casual nod, thanking it for being the influence that made gaming what it is today, and never looked back.ErwinGodfrey said:Well, why aren't you? Well good on you for actually trying it before condemning it. There is a lot of people who hear one thing about an old game and immediately think it is shit, despite never even glancing at a screenshot for it. I actually tried Elderscrolls II: Daggerfall before I could no longer stand the click-and-drag combat controls.Danoloto said:Snip.

I thought the internet was the place where you could share personal information and not be judged?Kahunaburger said:Naw man he's just the kind of guy who plays current gen games and sometimes even has sex with women. Ha ha ha, not even close friendo, but thanks for the Zap pic, I very much enjoy Futurama.MelasZepheos said:I thought the internet was the place where you could share personal information and not be judged?
Ah, no. It's the place you're free to not care about being judged.MelasZepheos said:I thought the internet was the place where you could share personal information and not be judged?
I think you have to attack it with the sword you find in the house or you give it the packed lunch you find in the kitchenteh_Canape said:I couldn't ever for the life of me get past the troll in the basement
No, never liked text adventures. Even when you could wrestle them into doing what you want the puzzles used a kind of moon logic that make Gabriel Knight look positively sane.Zork said:Pick up sword.
I don't know what an "Up" is.
Get sword.
You don't have the sword!
Obtain sword.
I'm sorry I don't understand.
