"Why Are You So Anti-social?"

I'm sure we've all heard it. I hear it from my brother constantly. cause he's just a pain, but my mum seems to have accepted it about a year ago. Anyway, my typical answer is, because I don't like you. When I'm not feeling flippant, a rare occasion indeed, I'll tell people that gaming with my friends seems as legitimate a way to spend time as going out and riding bikes or something. And I avoid parties, because I hate the music, but go to massive Heavy Metal concerts, where I may converse with a complete stranger. So, I'm not anti-social, but take part in different social activities. What's your response/excuse to this question?

I usually get "dont be so antisocial".

My response is usually "i work nights, Ive been up 36 hours, Sod off, Im trying to sleep"

Works for me.

Pretty much the same. You can't be considered anti-social if you actually, you know, SOCIALIZE with people, even if it's not always in person. There's a difference in not mingling or hanging out with people in person and just not having good people skills. I've met plenty of people in person that had worse people skills than those I've played with online.

I've only ever had this said to me back when I was 15 and pretty much a hermit for a while.

These days I try to be in social situations whenever the opportunity arises so it's not a question I really get asked.

People say that because I dont like to hang out. I hate parties or any other sort of gathering because I get claustrophobic in large crowds, but I love concerts, and I do hang out with people, I have friends and we do stuff, but I just like to be alone sometimes.

I used to be told that but since I have other friends to do nerd activities with now that talk has ceased. Even back then I just wasn't the parties kind of guy. That's what I told people.

Because people are inconsiderate, selfish, rude and generally unintelligent.

yes there are good people out there, but i dont think its worth going through 10,000 tons of trash to find a golden ring. sorry.

"Not anti-social just shy, but if you're going to be such a prick I don't know why I should talk to you."
Works every time.

I don't mix with Chinese people of my age group. For starters, being born in the UK and growing up here has given me a western background, I know absolutely fuck all about life and culture over in China, so I rarely have anything to talk about. Plus I fucking hate anime and manga.

On the other hand, I hate going to parties, pubs or nightclubs with my English friends, I'm more of a dinner party person, I love cooking for a party of 16 or under, and then finishing the evening with decent conversations or discussions. For a start I'm not really into alcohol, secondly I hate dance music or whatever it is they play at nightclubs now...

Eh, sometimes I need a little "me time" its more pleasent than real interactions...in doses.

I think im doing people a favor, if you noticed my posts this is a slightly intesified version of me all the time. Plus im quite shy with new people.

I...don't actually get asked that question. It's not like just wanting to hang out alone sometimes makes you anti-social.
