Without getting into fanboy fight but anyone who says that PC gaming is to expensive but has a PS3 is only kidding themselves. Most modern PC games due to the fact that console graphics are holding them back dont need to be £1000 monster gaming rigs. And due to this the price of PC componments in very low. Eg the ATI hd 5450 1Gb in my i5 PC are only around £35. (graphic card)

The problem is that most ppl buy ready made PCs from places like PC world (like my current PC) and these tend to be over priced and have parts which arnt really suited together, plus unless you are buyinging a top specced PC the graphics cards are usually really crappy.

My advice stop been lazy and learn to build and maintain a PC for yourself. If you really cant hold a screwdriver then get a friend to build a PC for you. If you choose you componments wisly and dont pay heed to those PC gamers who think you need to have cutting edge parts to have fun with a PC game. You will find two things that can really push the price up and thats a new monitor and Windows 7 but those can be negated if you use a old or 2nd hand monitor and buy the cheapest version of win7.

Then you will find that the extra cash you invested into the machine (which if you self build a low speced system wont be that much) will quickly be made back by buying the cheaper PC games especially if you just buy from the steam sales 50-80% off and other sales.

Also if you get into emulation like MAME and just about every console going including the Wii and DS you will find your costs just got a whole lost less.

Honestly Im actually SAVING MONEY been a PC gamer. Still some console games are great though like Vanquish and all the Shmups on the 360. Lovly Jubly!

Yes, but as I said. Almost any person available has a tv lying around. It might not be the most up-to-date TV but it's A TV.

Even WITH a $100 or cheaper TV I get the system for measurably less. You know, the TV I probably already would have.

I'm posting on my wii, tyvm. Strictly speaking, all I need my laptop for is playing minecraft. And I didn't say $700 hi-def TV. I said a working tv of some sort.

You guys do know you dont need to sit at a desk to play a PC right? Apart from using a laptop you can connect a TV up to your PC aswell so you can enjoy your games on a big screen, sat on the sofa and your games will look better and play smoother aswell.

Generally games designed for consoles are optimized for the specs of the machine, thus they usually are a little better in both gameplay and framerate.

PC games on the other hand have to be designed for various builds, resulting in a range of performances.

PC games are only worse then console when the PC isnt good enough or your graphics settings are too high.

And tbh whist they might be obtimised better on console allot of this is due to having to make the games run on so little Ram that current gen machines have.

I have all major consoles. And a throw-away PC because it isn't worth sinking money into. And yes, it used to be top-of-the-line. I'm a former PC gamer who dropped PC gaming like it had super aids, and herpes. Also, ugly.

I, Chibz, am saying that so few quality PC exclusives exist that it's not even worth talking about the idea of a PC exclusive. Without any (deliberate) motive or attempt at angering people. I'm also saying that Starcraft 2 was designed by a company that has caused great harm to the gaming hobby/industry. Almost as much harm as Zynga. They're bad and they should feel bad.

And why isn't an ebay price reliable? It was a buy it now, and even if it wasn't. The whole point was that you can build a gaming PC for the same price as a console. People said you couldn't, I proved you could. Fairly easily in fact. Just because you say ebay doesn't "count" doesn't change the fact that finding components for a discounted price is really easy. I could build everyone in this thread a gaming pc for $300 each that would run as fast, if not faster than an Xbox and PS3.

I'm sure you'll ignore that point though. Since cost is one of the only arguments left for the console.

Controller is more comfortable/better than mouse Even if that were true (it's not in the case of a lot of game styles), you can use any console controller with a PC. Not only PS3, Wii, and Xbox, but also third party controllers and you can program your own buttons.

The PC controls better than the console. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. Since all the control options available for console are also available for PC plus more, it.

I can play from my couch and relax while using a console You can do the exact same with a PC. I don't know where people got the idea that you have to sit a desk to use your PC, you don't. I hook my PC up to my projection screen all the time. I think grab my 360 controller and sit on the couch to play some games. It's exactly like a console, except it performs better and looks 1000x nicer.

Console has more games Not even close to true. RTS, MMOs, most simulations, etc. they're all pretty much exclusively PC. Plus most AAA titles released on console are also released on PC. Then you have indie games, mods, emulation, etc.

Consoles are cheaper Considering most households with a console also already have a PC, the cost to get it gaming ready(if it's not already) would more than likely be less than a console. If you have a PC even relatively modern (3-4 years old) you'll just have to spend $100-$200 for a video card and you'll be good.

Plus it is possible to build an entirely new gaming machine for $300 that will run games at the same quality, if not better than consoles. I did it earlier in the thread. With links and everything.



So there's the major ones that keep being used, yet aren't true. The only arguments that are left have to do with people not knowing how to use a PC properly. No one under the age of 30 should have trouble gaming on a PC. It's not hard at all. It's amazing that the only people who claim it to be difficult are the people who don't ever game on a PC. So how exactly would they know?

No, it shouldn't be more complicated than that.. but for some reason it is to a large number of posters both here and elsewhere. *shrug* I was always under the impression that the most important thing in gaming is the games, but it would seem I'm wrong.

Well, yes, it's supposed to be like that in theory, but in actuality it is far more important to feel a sense of superiority to the people who use another gaming system than you.

I mean, I don't play Prototype for fun, I play it to feel superior to people who don't own a 360. The only pleasure I derive from playing it comes from the knowledge that PC gamers aren't devouring soldiers.

And yes, I am most certainly mocking the living shit out of the morons who like to carry on this ridiculous pissing contest.

It's actually a psychological thing, people don't want to feel bad about their purchase of an xbox, so they slam everything else to justify it to themselves and avoid buyer's remorse. The thing is, they also can't accept that it's a sunk cost.

Ideally IF a game is multiplatform and is out for the PC then any sane person would buy that over the console version as itll be the best version and the cheapest aswell. The only time any sane person wouldnt buy the PC version is if it was a bad port or didnt exist, and is a console exclusive

I play console for two reasons:

1 - I'm tired of the arms race for PCs, I can't really be bothered to try and keep up any more. Home is littered with old bits of PC that, while not broken or damaged or non-functional in any way had to be discarded to keep up and play the latest games. I've spent way too much cash doing that and, while I don't regret it as I had fun at the time, I won't do it any more.

2 - Console games either work, or they don't. There is no annoying fiddling about with drivers or configurations. I watched my two housemates a while ago installing and playing Rift. One ran the game with no trouble. The other had a weird rolling/flashing screen effect that shut the game down. It took some hours then to research the problem, try some solutions and get the bloody thing to work (turned out to be a Direct X issue). I can't be bothered with that any more. If I have time to play, I want to play. Time is too precious to waste dicking around.

And frankly, the whole PC v Console thing is old and a little pathetic. From Spectrum v Commodore to Sega v Nintendo to what we have today there has always been arguing over what is best. Make your own mind up, buy it, play with it, stop worrying about what everyone else is doing because you do not need their permission to have fun.

For me, it's mainly because of convenience. Sometimes, I just don't have the time or patience to check my computer's requirements when I can just as easily play the same game on my console without having to worry about any of that. Now, we all know some games work better for console, and some better for computer. Also, I like gaming on my bed. Heck, I grew up gaming on consoles, so it shouldn't be surprising that I have a preference for them. Don't get me wrong though, I love gaming on my laptop.

Ever heard the argument "dont shit where you eat". A pc, to me, is a purely work platform. Using it for gaming would compromise alot of hard disk space, that could be better used. Besides, no PC can match the coziness of sitting in front of a television, in a beanbag, holding a controller.
