Why can't my computer run Fallout:New Vegas on high settings?

Apparently the game simply guesses your graphics card specs after simply taking down the model and number, and frequently gets the actual details wrong.

The engine itself is apparently rather unstable too, and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it suffers memory leaks. I'd say the problem is more likely to be at their end than yours.

On a side-note: Can you run it? doesn't mean anythign really. The listed minimum specs on a game rarely let you run it smoothly on minimum settings, and just because it says you pass everything doesn't indicate how it will run.
Is there any way to fix this?

Read the bit in the italics, there's a download that claims to fix it.

I have no idea if it works since I don't have the game, but it's worth a shot.

The two download links are right above the paragraph in italics, depending on whether you have a nVidia or ATI card.

That image tells the rough estimates, not specifics.

Get the newest Graphics card drivers. That can do a massive difference.

Can you run it isn't that good. Just because it says you've got a computer good enough to handle this game on high doesn't make it true, or even close to reality.
