I put this in gaming discussion even though it applies to everything.
Why do we always need to remake things? I know it's obviously an easy profit tool, but the unimaginative approach of remaking good things is just a stagnation. I caught myself playing my great vice, Black Hawk Down (PS2) today (a game that absorbed more of my time in its heyday online than WoW has for most of my friends), and while I saw the shitty graphics and broken online system, the gameplay was still as pristine as ever. Wouldn't it make more sense artistically to remake something that deserves a remake?
Something like that would actually mean a concept could get a second chance, because I've played a lot of games that were solid in some regards (think Darkest of Days or The Witcher before the enhanced edition) but just had problems that bogged me and a lot of other people down. I'm not saying we should all rush stock to THQ to see them remake the Finding Nemo game, but couldn't we try and push a good concept into a great product with a little extra effort?
Also, as a footnote, I know a lot of people are going to say "well obviously people remake stuff that's good because it's profitable and has a proven market etc"
Save your time.
