I think it has to do with society promoting the notion that 'Offensensitivity' is an acceptable social disease; people love to get offended, and then they spend a bunch of time making sure that everyone knows about it, without actually trying to address any of the reasons why the offense was made, or resolving to change their reactions to offensive material.

Personally, I'm not a bigot or a racist, but I am anti-politically-correct, when it exceeds the point of common sense.

That's the sorta thing you only say to your guy buddies. There's a massive divide between banter and just being a prick, with the whole spectrum of mildly offensive humour in between. My gf used to get offended and upset by things I said all the time, the best thing I found to do is just apologize and learn from your mistakes. And not be a complete prick for making a genuinely offensive and not particularly funny comment to people you've never met then claim they're the ones with no sense of humour.

People try to act like being offended matters, everyone gets offended by something. The thing to remember is; so fucking what? Is you're wellbeing hanging so precariously in the balance that a word will end you're life or at least cause you physical harm? Doubtful. After 1 minute will there be any lasting effect of the offense other than you might be a bit miffed? Nope. Deal with it. Like a fucking grown up.
