Why Cat girls?

Can't really explain it, they're just hot. I don't have a fetish for them, I'm perfectly fine with normal women, but they're just... attractive.

Because... cats are cute? So adding cat to girl makes them even cuter?
I'unno, that's not my thing.

I didn't pick this avatar pic because it was a cat-girl. I picked it because it's a character from the Anime "Kyouran Kazoku Nikki". The fact that Kyouka's a cat-girl is simply coincidence. That's not to say that I have anything against cat-girls or their admirers. I just felt the need to state that this avatar pic isn't the result of a "cat-girl fetish", I just really like the Anime.

Ohh... Well, I am glad you asked. It is none other than Renkin 3-kyû Magical Pokân, often shortened to just "Magipoka". Basically, it's about the day-to-day activities of 4 Netherworld princesses, including Liru, the werewolf, Yuma, the witch, Pachira, the vampire, and Aiko, the android.

The first 3 episodes kind of had a bit of a serious tone, but other than that, it sticks to completely un-related comedic episodes.

It's probably the cuteness of a cat combined with the sex appeal of a human woman... At least that's my reason for liking them >_>

i won't write off the bunnies either
love that song a mate of mine showed it to me a few years ago
And i suppose it shows that bunnies make their way in music while cats are conquering the internet. I just know that both appeal to me <_<

It's not an anime fetish. It's a fetish. Period. It started (from what I can surmise) with the movie Devil Girl from Mars [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046907/] and the short story The Ballad of Lost C'Mell [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ballad_of_Lost_C%27Mell]. It's been around roughly as long as anime, but touched on it before anime did.

Because Otakus secretly want to do cats...

Hey, I didn't write the book, I'm just reading from it.

Personally, I don't get catgirls. I don't think they're cute or attractive. They're actually pretty repulsive.

Well, anime artists have a huge interest in the idea of a cat girl, also known as nekomimi, because of the huge resonance between female and feline traits.

When people anthropomorphize animals, dogs are masculine, cats are feminine.

Having spent the past decade watching a hell of a lot more anime than is probably good for me, I have to say that I've never gotten the whole cat-girl thing. Most of the time they just look like they're wearing headbands, which is just dumb, and under no circumstances do they EVER act anything like an actual cat (obvious exceptions being Escaflowne TV and Princess Tutu, which featured a ballet instructor who was just a giant talking house-cat standing on its hind legs in a leotard). It always struck me as kind of lame and not very attractive.

I would argue that this is true primarily of people who have never actually spent any time with either species. In both cases, their primary behavioral traits and personality quirks don't really have that much of a human analogue. People who associate feline and female traits like that always end up portraying either women or cats in a way which is completely out of touch with reality. This is speaking as someone who's had multiple cats around the house since I was born.

Twice the pussy-factor...

What, someone had to get this pun out of the way, hope noone before me did.

On a more serious note, I don´t seem to see a problem with cat-girls, it´s like someone with a sexy-pinup of Dante from Devil May Cry as their avatar because, well Dante is awesome, but having a sexy pic of him is borderland gay.
So having cat-girls as avatars makes one borderland furry...
It´s a way of the subconcious mind of subtle self portrayal that some people oh so like on the internet.
Like posting a picture of themselfs doing something stupid so they get the laughs...or posting themself naked to gain attention. Or bragging about ones miserable life on Live-Journal.

Well, point is, I don´t care about avatars and what they mean, hell, I have yet to find a reason to upload one...

It comes from Japanese culture where cat are seen as errr... always getting it on in heat types.

As well the ears, tail...kinda like the idea of the playboy bunny... Bunny symbolizing they like to Thumper a lot.

Something about the grace and mystique of a feline combined with the beauty of the female form. I like it!!!

The idea of having a cute/hot, playful, very affectionate, yet submissive (all traits commonly found it cats) girlfriend is very appealing to me.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Beyond that, I have no idea why, but I love them.

And I mean non-furry cat girls, which are a turn off for me.
this+ the moe factor nyoro~

If only more time were spend developing her character compared to Moka-sans... that would make Rosario more interesting no?
