Ahh, now thats where you're wrong. I will always listen to someone tell me they want to quit. And I will always try to help. Now, my tactics have changed dramatically. Where I used to be gentle and kind, I've become bitter and angry. I'll still try to help, but I attempt it in a way that makes you feel like you're worthless for doing it. It doesn't always help, but certain people react well to that sort of motivation. I hope that you can eventually overcome this habit. I'm rooting for you the whole way.
You reminded me why I love the escapist community :)

Stress, sad state, restlessness. Kinda the reasons to why I started smoking. Now it's just a habit. A stupid, stupid habit.

my first cigarette was about 3 minutes after i lost my virginity. i went camping with this girl and her younger brother. after sex i stepped out of the tent and her brother handed me a cigarette and said, "tradition dude." been a smoker ever since.
You're shitting me right?
absolutely not. stack of bibles.
That is one cool brother. For some reason it sounds like this girl is kind of slutty! lol.

not really, we planned the entire trip so we could have some time alone. had been dating a few months but we were both 17 and had really overbearing parents. also yeah, the brother was one of the coolest guys i've ever known.
Sounds like a good brother to me XD. Like when I went over to a friend's house a few months ago, we used to joke flirt a lot and her bro didn't know it was all joking. One day he pulled me aside and said "Please tell me you like my sister, that girl is way too tense and seriously needs to get laid, even if it's with a chick". This came from a catholic family XD

I use to work with many smokers and when there were enough people working, I would accompany them outside just for a little chit chat and maybe a smoke. since I quit from that job which was a year ago, i have not smoked cigs since then.

it is a really horrible habit to form. and it is really expensive.
Do you ever feel like taking it up again?

OT: I have several teachers that smoke and they always use it as an excuse to be late.

Either you mean "farther" or "sister". Right now it doesn't make sense.

I have never, and will never, smoke anything. I really see no point to it. It costs hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars a year, and it slowly poisons you in hundreds of different ways...
I don't have anything inherently against people who smoke, but I do think it's a stupid thing to do.

Sister was the one I was going for... I'll fix that in a second

I started for essentially no reason. I just randomly started smoking. They're fantastic for calming your nerves, even if they do taste fairly awful.

I have had a couple thoughts about it but then I realize that I could use that money for more awesome things like games!
the comment about your teachers who smoke
that is bullshit.

I don't see one positive effect. I'm athletic guy and everything it could do to me would damage my body.

Plus, it's expensive and I have other priorities when it comes to spending money.

That's why I've never been attracted to smoking in the first place, but I feel for those, who are addicted.

I'm not starting, though I've promised myself when I'm an old man I'm gonna start smoking cigars. I figure: I've lived long enough.
Fun fact cigars don't have the chemicals in them that cigarettes do that cause cancer and other damaging effects. In fact studies have shown men who've smoked at least one cigar everyday for their entire lives have actually lived as long if not longer than people who don't.Cigars aren't dangerous cigarettes are and only because of the shit the companies put in them.Hence why I'm very picky about my cigarettes.
OT:I started smoking on my eighteenth birthday I just generally like the taste and smell of tobacco.

I'd also just like to quickly add to Gxas, just because something's been drilled into your head, doesn't mean it's right. I was raised Roman Catholic and as you can see from above my moral beliefs definitely don't come from that. You should examine your beliefs to see how true they are.
I realize your point, and I do agree. Abstinence was drilled into my head all throughout school, yet, I know that it is not the correct choice (I know too many divorced couples who ended up realizing that they weren't compatible in bed, which led to their divorce). However, I stand strong in the fact that smoking is bad. It becomes especially bad when it is done around me. My sinuses are extremely sensitive and just the littlest bit of smoke sets them off and immediately gives me a headache. Most of my hate is because of this fact. Why should I suffer because you need your little crutch to get through the day? And, no, I don't think that I should have to walk away from a conversation because someone can't stand another second away from nicotine.

I would smoke purely and simply because it looks cool. Contrary to popular belief, sometimes your health is worth the sacrifice if it makes you look cool.

And to hell with all you people who think smoking is unfashionable. You're wrong. Its badass.

i started smoking because i wanted to smoke. i quit smoking because i didn't want to smoke anymore. sounds kinda dumb when i write it out like that, but that really is the sole reason i started and stopped smoking.

I wouldn't. Ever.

No health issues, I just vowed to myself that I never will do it, ever.

For me it was either that or become a raging alcoholic hahahaha jk. School, personal issues, and shit economy drove me to it. Ironically the shitty economy also drove me away from it as it is an expensive habit to maintain (pending on how much you smoke).

I have smoked one cigarette a month for the past year and a bit, just so that I can feel like the coolest cat around - cigarette in my left hand, saxophone in my right, swish black suit, either at a jazz bar, or just in the street - preferably in the rain or under a streetlamp, but whatever.
One cigarette a month.
Boom.

I wont because I have a gf, but if anything happened I probably would to help deal with my emotional problems and the stress of living with my family
