Have you ever had this happen to you? You set a game down or put it on pause and you come back to find someone younger then you playing with a smile. Followed by the "I'm helping!" When they're really not. Or you let someone play a game on your tag/user name and find out later that they messed everything up?

What game was it and what happened. Lets here the horror stories.

My Story:
There was a party at my house and some of the younger kids wanted to play a video game. So I let them pick one out ( CoD:WaW) and before they put it in I asked there parents if it was ok for them to play. They said yes so I set it up for them and let them go and went back to the party. I came back 3 hours later to find the worst. They went on xbox live with my tag and played a lot of matches and brought my KTD 1.34 down to a 0.06. When I looked at the screen they were going 0 and 15. I was so mad yet all I could do was look with my mouth open as they said "look there's a bad guy! I'll get you! Aww I died again. Why is tis game so hard?" Later on to top off what they did there was chocolate on my controllers, head set, and just about anything they touched.

I was starting Twilight Princess, went to check on some pasta in the dorm kitchen, and came back thinking nothing had happened. A few minutes in, however, I find out that my horse was named, "Artax."

Why did you leave it connected to the internet?

Can't say anything like that has happened to me. I usually get people started off then leave.

I only thing I have close to this was about, say, 8 years ago or so, I had Donkey Kong 64 and had almost beaten the game, also had a few other game saves for my brother to play on. So one day, my brother brought his one friend over, and they started playing it while I went out with my mom to go get some groceries.

I came back, and all of the game saves were gone, because the one kid though it would be funny or something...so close to beating his ass right there.. x-x

My dad actually used to be pretty decent at videogames, but his reflexes have gone down quite a bit and he doens't think logically. I'll be playing a shooter and my dad will say "Pick that up and throw it at them!" or "Shoot that thing above their heads!" He doesn't understand that the game might not be programmed to allow ALL actions.

So Ill leave the room just to go to the batroom or make a small snack, and when I return, my dad is playing it and he's liek "I'm doing good for you" when he's dying. or he'll die and put the controller back where it was, so I'll realize I just played that level and find out dad got me killed

I don't think this has happened to me, but I have lived in fear of such a scenario.

Pokémon in particular is very prone to this problem seeing how they (at least the early games) only have one save-file. If you let a younger sibling play, all it takes is one press on the "new game" button and then a save to erase all your hard work.

It is a horrific thought indeed.

Edit: Children aren't to be trusted with such delicate belongings of yours. Give them their own console or do not let them play seems like the most sensible thing to do.

They got everything on-line and hooked up. Out of all the gamer tags they picked mine. I know if they picked my boyfriends tag he would have killed them.

I was playing Mass Effect again last year, on the Insanity difficulty level. I'd worked goddamn hard for each mission and assignment, and I saved my games almost obsessive compulsively. I'd just cleared out Chora's Den, and it was pretty much a fluke that I'd managed it at all. I went downstairs for a bit and my brother went into my room and decided to fuck with my computer. Took me so many tries to complete that mission again. Anyway, after a lot of 'discipline' I think he now knows never to touch my computer again. He always wants to play the games that I play, but aside from the fact that few of them are suitable for an 8 year old, he always manages to mess up my computer.

I posted this in another thread along the same lines.

When you're sniping and some noob comes in and decides to FOLLOW you. THey go everywhere you do, not watching your six, just following. You find a great spot to crouch down and stake out, and they STAND there like a sore thumb. Someone finally comes into view, and they unload their entire magazine in two seconds, AND STILL miss every shot. Next thing you know, there's a grenade sitting between your legs and a few seconds later you're waiting for respawn to do it ALL over again.

Edit for relevance: I say this because the people that do this are usually eight years old and either don't know how to play, or are completely misguided.

Two situations actually

I had two of my friends over and we we're thinking of what to play. I went upstairs and found Tekken 5 and brought it downstairs for us to play. One of my friends started laughing and told me my other friend just deleted my save file of that game while I was upstairs finding it. I Still don't know why he did it to this day

The second instance is when I had a friend staying over, and after I fell asleep he went through my game collection and decided to play Resident Evil 4. he played it on my file and made considerable progress while I was asleep. And then he saved his progress over mine. I don't know if someone ever told him a memory card can save more than one file per game

I have one:

I was minding my own business playing Dissidia and I remembered that I needed to move my car. I set my PSP on my bed and hall ass out passing my little cousin in the process. Got caught up talking to a girl and was outside for 45 minutes. I come back inside, go to my room, my cousin was playing my PSP. Not a big deal until I noticed that my PSP collection of games: the UMD cases were cracked open and he attempted to shove the other UMD into the PSP upside down. I swear I was about to kill him.

Thank God I am an only child.
I never trust children that are younger than fifteen. My nephew and nieces ALWAYS had to break something whenever they visited years ago. I found oatmeal dumped in my box of legos once, and later my shiny new wireless gamecube controller had the rubber pad on the control stick ripped off.
And my sister and mother wonder why I don't have a relationship with that part of my family.

I can't remember the last time this happened to me. Probably Pokemon or something when I was a kid. Still, I can't see myself getting all worked up about it. My brother, an uni student as well, likes to mess with my MW2 stuff but it's always an easy fix. As far as K/D anything like that, my friends and I will play drunk and trash it anyway. I really just don't take gaming seriously enough I guess.

I actually did this once. Accidentally saved over a WC2 campaign on my uncle's pc. I was better at it than him though so I made up for it by replaying up to that point and leaving it there.

I once let a friend play Pokemon blue. He had never played Pokemon before but I hadn't thought that he would do something stupid. I went to the kitchen to make some sandwiches. When I returned I found out that he had freed my two strongest Pokemons.

Your frieds deserve a slap in the face!

OT: One of my friends (yeah he deserves a slap to -.-), while at my house asked if he could play on resident evil 1 on the gamecube because he wanted to see whether he would like it. So instead of starting a new game he went onto my file (I had just returned to the masion and the hunters had appeared) and take out my Shotgun and Grenade Launcer, plus all of my herbs and stuff. He then waisted all my ammo, and died a load of times, but instead of thinking "hmmm I keep dying, perhaps I should just go off the game", he again waisted a load of ammo and thought that because he killed a few of them he should save it... jackass!

My younger cousin is completely addicted to video games, mostly my large collection of M rated Xbox 360 games; he bugs me all day to play them when he comes over, complains when he cant, asks my parents if he can play (thank god they ask me before giving him an answer), asks HIS parents if he can play . They said yes once, god knows the look on my face when i found him playing my Oblivion file attempting to kill what looked like the entire imperial city market district, had to have a talk with my relatives after that and put a code on my profile. The most annoying thing though is the fact that he is intelligent enough to save his file and legitimately thinks he is helping me out so he saves EVERYTHING he does no matter what the game. I lost save files on two different pokemon games (kinda humorous since he named everything he caught after a family member), a mario game, and my SSB brawl story mode saves in one visit. I also legitimately LOST at least two other games that I found three years later at his house, im still missing one that i cant find at all. Now he is not allowed to touch anything belonging to me without my permission.
