i got fallout 3 for christmas last month and when i started playing it, well it was great. unfortunately, my love for the game didn't last me very long.well i went into the town of megaton and walked into the local bar with my chinese sword out. i moved myself around a little to get comfortable and accidentally hit the right trigger and sliced a civilian. next thing i knew, everyone pulled out their guns and started gang raping so i charged out the door, which was a huge mistake, and the game auto saved so everyone in town wants me dead and every 5 seconds i die and respawn so eventually i had to restart from the beginning. i was very pissed since i put a good 7 hours into the game just to have this happen. so i restarted and the SAME FUCKING THING happened again 4 hours into the campaign.
why does fallout 3 have to hate me for these small mistakes i make, why? this isn't just a small mistake i can over look like not being able to see shit in the game, this is something that ruins the game for you! really, why does it auto save SO often. i know there's an option to turnoff the auto save but i always forget. why can't fallout 3 and bethesda just forgive me for my small mistakes?

Also, isn't there a relent system in the game, if you sheath your weapon and try talking to them again, don't they usually say something like "don't do it again" or whatever?
Also, relying on manual saves is probably the best, I usually do it every 5-10 mins, which isn't a huge loss if I have to reload from them.

Or create a manual save file that you can revert to. In my playthrough there were several times I would save specifically so I could try something, and if it didn't work, I could still load and do it a different way. You don't have to use the auto save. Also, I could see fine; maybe fiddle with your brightness/contrast.

it's hard to talk to them when you keep on getting lit up by them. well, i guess i'm the only one who hates the auto save in fallout 3.

Gee, it sure is hard to hit "Save game" sometimes.

Hell, I think I F5/F9'd more times in this game than in Doom3, and that's saying something.

(Since you said "right-click" I'm assuming you're playing the PC version, so why not use quicksave?)

I don't understand this topic. Why didn't I like Fallout 3?

Ok, let me get this straight, your stupid mistakes make you not like that game, even after you said you loved it. I haven't played Fallout 3 yet, but it seems to me like asking why you didn't like it in the name of the thread, then posting the (stupid) reason why is a little bit silly, after saying you loved it at first.

Well the first thing I did in fallout 3 was try to kill everyone in megaton myself, I saved first, and I died, I never accidently hit someone though because I only have my finger on the trigger when I know I'll need it.

It didn't even take me an hour to get out of the vault.

I liked the autosave in Fallout 3. It helped me a lot. As for the problem of you "accidently" killing people I have a suggestion: Put the weapon away! People will probably like you more if do it and your finger wont keep slipping on the trigger. But after reading the OP again I realised something. Didnt you have a save file from before they all atacked you? I'm guessing you would have a save file considering your burning hatred for the autosave. Whats more, how did it happen again?! Surely, you should learn from your mistakes!

At least it doesn't Have the Dead rising save system.

Option 1: continue game
Option 2: Fuck that game restart the game with your power at the same level.

Save the game? The only reason you would neet a total restart is if you allmost never save, so you'd have this problem with every gmae other than halo and other liner FPS's.

I got it for christmas and didn't like it, but it wasn't because I was walking around people with a sword out.

Why didn't you unequip the sword before going into Megaton?

No offence, but use a manual save file, is it really that hard?

And if the Xbox controller is to blame, why not get a decent control method. i.e. a computer with a mouse and keyboard.

This is the first time I've heard someone say this without it being a joke, usually it's: "I accidently forgot to holster my machine gun and accidently killed everyone in Megaton ahaha."

Really the game makes it very easy to avoid accidently attacking someone it's a lot easier to accidntly steal something.

Next time you enter a town holster or unequip your weapon and don't touch the trigger buttons.
