Why didn't people like Mass Effect 3's ending?

So I just beat Mass Effect 3 and I thought the ending was pretty good. All I heard about it prior was how horrible it was so I decided to see it. The long way. I bought all three games and played them consecutively bringing the same shep with me each time preparing for the worst and what I got was... A pretty good ending. So what exactly was the reason it got so much hate?

Should I continue? I'm pretty sure I could sit here all day and pump out threads where people state why they hated the ending.

My own opinion is buried in there somewhere (though note, I have not played the EC so my opinions listed may be out-dated) but we really don't need another thread discussing this so I'm keeping it to myself.

Don't start this again... I'm tired of being mad at this ending and want to forget about it. That being said, I'm sure someone still has enough residual fury to explain to you in excruciating detail why the ending was horrible in every possible way, so don't say I didn't warn you.

It's late, least where I am, so I'll keep it short. First of all, did you get the EC? if you have, the ending is arguably better. Otherwise, well, on to the list.

-The endings went against the theme of the series
-You never introduce a new character in the end of a story. ever.
-You never change the central theme of a story last minute. ever
-The endings were effectively A, B, or C, making our previous choices superficial.
-Tonal shift was very jarring, and not in a good way
-many points in the endings, such as how society lives without the relays, or if the quarians are unaffected by the Destruction ending, even if Shepard supposedly was supposed to die because he had synthetics in his body.
-no blue babies.

I hope this helped. Get ready for the shitstorm. this is still a sore topic.

They made little to no sense in the context of everything else that preceded them. Done. Period.

I really hope tippy's response become's stickied on this forum, the ME3 ending threads need to just stop.

I think the easier question to ask is "Why the hell didn't you hate it?" I'm being serious, the pure badness of the ending kind of speaks for itself as far as I'm concerned.

I loved the endings. They fit the themes of sacrifice and hope carried throughout the game perfectly.
