Why do Americans do the date differently?

same reason we dont use the metric system, because we are America, we are better than you, and if you want to talk to us you have to change the way you do things.

Why do YOU do it differently?

In Canada, it goes either way, which gets annoying.
It's probably because going day/month/year means it's in order.

That must be annoying, they should start doing it month/day/year since their right next to the USA.
