Dear Microsoft,

Please could you make XBOX Live less laggy and give us better service, or I will be forced to take drastic measures, such as, um, an internet boycott.

Yeah, bet you're quaking in your boots now.

Too much effort for too little pay off.

It's a matter of perspective. Incidentally, did you know that 3 million children die every year from malnutrition?

first off, you are being an elitist prick. second i think people have tried to lobby for free XBL but Microsoft is so rich and greedy that they just gave up. and third, most of those problems you mentioned aren't really a big deal if you have the right connection. there are other games or game types to play than just 9 on 9. there are plenty of games i'd like to play on the PC but i don't have thousands of dollars to shell out for a gaming computer what with all my schoolwork and the main thing is, consoles are more of a group experience. you'd never hear someone say, "okay everyone, gander round the computer for a movie."

And why would you need thousands of dollars? It doesn't even cost a thousand dollars to assemble a gaming PC.
to pay for the graphics card, upkeep, and all the games n shit

So, with the Modern Warfare 2 thing showing that PC gamers are going to be screwed over by A-titles from now on, or at least A-titles from Activison and Infinity Ward (that aren't WoW), us PC gamers have had the 'delight' of seeing what console gaming is like.

So, I have to ask, REALLY? You're content with this? A maximum of 9 vs 9, having the host be switched around left, right, and centre, having lag ampified because of the P2P connections...?

I mean, XBox live customers, you PAY for this stuff, so why is it that your service is worse than what the PC gamer IS getting 90% of the time? Why aren't you demanding a better service for your cash? Hell, why aren't 32 vs 32 games an option on XBox? Thats standard on PC.

I don't ask this to be 'elitist' like every other person on this website seems to think we PC gamers are, I'm asking because you're being given a poor service that you seem content with, even though there is a cheap, reliable fix for it (dedicated servers).

I mean, YOU are the ones who get to determine how good the service is you're paying for. PC gamers can't manage it anymore because we've been marginalized. So why aren't you demanding a better service? Especially on XBox Live where Microsoft don't have an excuse for not having them - i.e. you are paying a subscription charge for online play, so why don't they let some of that cash fund servers so you don't have to rely on laggy p2p networks?
ok... look... i am a 4 console player, and i personaly play each system for what it is, a pc?? for great RPG, MMORPG and some FPS´s (because me in Mexico everyone else i know dont touch a PC for gaming so i dont really go into multiplayer in that area) i get that the MODS are free, cool and great, but also are the cheaters and the amount of lag with Mexican internet makes it fairly closer to consoles that you would think

XBOX, i play it for my friends, everyone haves an XBOX (even if i dont really like games that kill single player for multiplayer like say Halo 3)

PS3, for single player games and exclusives, i like the resolution and the bluray wich i can never hope to achieve in my PC because parts are too hard to find at a fair price here in MX

Wii, heh, obviously Mario, Zelda, Metroid fan boy (and i loved red steel)

Is it really a poor service? To you it is yes because you have come to expect these things on the PC. Where as people who use consoles come to expect the things they get on the consoles.

Plus, you have to remember. People buy consoles more because buying or building a good gaming PC can cost more than a console. They are not settling for little as more so as settling for what is cheaper.

I play both PC and Consoles.

so you'll refute every honest word of mine as just being an attempt to "troll?" pfft. such things are below me.

truth is, i don't really know how much it costs, but i know i can't afford it seeing as i've already purchased a 360 with XBL and i'm sixteen working part time.

First of all,i'm a pc gamer.

The thing that some pc gamers and some console players don't get is that this depends on Point Of View.
Console players get what they're used to so they're content. When pc gamers get what we're used to get (unlike the MW2) we're content too.

Now...When you look at console gamers you think they should be unhappy but that's only from your POV,not theirs.
When they do the same, they think we ask for irrational things, again, they're wrong because that's from their POV.

It's really that simple.Console and pc gamers should try to see things from a different perspective.
If we buy nothing, then there won't be any console games. I WOULD like to see consoles start catching up to PC's more since the technology is there finally. I have a dedicated game machine (console) so that I and my friends can enjoy games while my computer can be used for work-related things. So, as ever, we vote with our $$ and slowly the market improves.

if you dont know then why not GOOGLE? what makes it worse is that you exaggerate to the point of blasphemy. gaming PCs are 400-600$ items, not thousands of dollars.
maybe someone less tired could do it for me.

Alright then. So far we've established that this guy plays PC, hates consoles, and may be part of the miserably failed boycott.
Actually, no, I own an XBox and a Wii, though I prefer PC. I have played XBox live matches, and always have wondered why console people seem to think there great. I was not apart of the boycott, although I didn't buy MW2 straight away.
So, I have to ask, REALLY? You're content with this? A maximum of 9 vs 9, having the host be switched around left, right, and centre, having lag ampified because of the P2P connections...?
I've never had lag problems online. Unless you live in a f**king shack a few hundred miles from anywhere, you won't have lag problems in a well-made game like Modern Warfare 2.
Bullshit.
"Did I mention that I love my PC? I'm trying to install a hole so I can make sweet creamy BUTTSEX with it!" And actually, we don't whine when things aren't perfect because... you know... we're not spoiled brats.
Yes, very clever - "Hu-huh, I made a buttsex joke." - and what you've just said is your settling for a worse service. So you'll never, ever get anything better, because you won't complain. Good for you, I guess.
I don't ask this to be 'elitist' like every other person on this website seems to think we PC gamers are,
OK, I'm not going to lie, I stared at that line in disbelief and then laughed for a bit
Seriously? You can't see the irony of the fact YOU started from the position of assuming I'm a 'PC elitist'?
I'm asking because you're being given a poor service that you seem content with, even though there is a cheap, reliable fix for it (dedicated servers).
Well, as I said: We don't try to come across as whiny by complaining when we don't like exactly how things are going.
Again, WHY? If you don't complain, things will either just not improve, or get worse until companies find to point where they can do the minimum for your price. You're literally saying you less for low standards here.
Please, PLEASE, actually just do something that doesn't prove exactly my point. It seems most of the boycotters are PC gamers complaining when they don't like things, and now we have PC gamers complaining about how we're not complaining about how he doesn't like that we don't not like things... Does that even make sense?

And these are the people that we consider elitists?
Why? Because YOU are the ones who realistically determine what a company can charge for a service, yes? And again, I wasn't a boycotter. What I'm complaining about is how you are letting yourselves get ripped off. And up until recently, that didn't affect us on the PC because, well, Infinity Ward actually gave a shit.

Actually, you know what, fuck it, you're just going to reply with a post about "How you have buttsex with ma PC" and how I "a whiny prick", etc, etc.

What I'm saying is why don't console players demand their money's worth? Ok, on the PS3, online play is free and all. But XBox live is a subscription service that provides LESS than what the free internet does on PC. So what I'm saying is why aren't you asking for a better service for your money than what we get on PC? If anything, the XBox Live service should be leading the way forwards. So basically, I'm saying "Why paid for an inferior service?" Ok, the XBox is cheaper than the average PC, but really, you're supposely paiding for great online multiplayer, but if any of the popular online multiplayers on console provide, say, 64 player games with only small amounts of lag, I've not seen it.

The answer is ignorance. Ironically most Sony exclusive online games support at least 32 players. This while being free even though these games would justify some sort of pricing..........

Not recently. Lazy people such as myself just play through Steam and invite whomever from our friends list.

I consider myself a PC gamer, but yeah I got a Wii and PS3, well and a DS if you want to count that as a modern console heh. But I find myself playing more PC games these days. Now, a game will come out on the PS3 every once in a while that forces me to buy it, but other than that, most of my budget goes to PC games.

I actually got tried of the console wars of xbox vs 360 debate. It is like trying to argue politics or religion sometimes! What I found out though was it seems that the game industry is lazy. They write a game in Microsoft code and then are able to port it to the 360 very easy, but when they go to port it to the PS3, they do not re-write the code. So, the PS3 does not get full use of it's hardware, so it preforms very low on multi-platform releases. But on PURE ps3 titles (like MGS4 and such) you can see some of the extra hardware under the hood being used. It would be like having a sports car but never being able to get it out of 2nd gear, because all the other cars can only go that fast. But that is my main gripe is the PS3 appears poor due to lack luster developer support.

But for the most part, the lack of use of keyboard in most console games dumb down the gameplay. No matter how many buttons you put on a controller, the keyboard still has more. Now I know modern consoles support the use of keyboards, but most of the games do not, as far as anything other than a chat method. That being said, the scope of the PC games will always be greater that console games, until the true invention of REAL VR, at which point all people throughout the world will likely die from starving to death from playing for a week straight without jacking out.

I think most people choose consoles because they are more user friendly. PC's have to be regularly updated and they can be a little complicated. I'd say that PC's are for hardcore gamers, PS3's and Xbox 360's are casual (I only have a PS3) and Wii's are for housebound women and toddlers. (Only joking, or was I.)

PC seems to enjoy the luxury of having SOOOOOOOOOOO many more people allowed in on the map. I never thought about the fact that there's actually no reason at all that microsoft won't let us play with more than 18 people on the 360.

I just got myself an aaawwwwwwwwwesome new PC, so i guess i'll be spending a little less time on my 360 and PS3 now that i have a computer that can actually play games ;)

I agree with he who says that a good gaming PC would cost more than both the consoles combined. IT DOES. it cost me way more than my 360 and my PS3 combined. There are many many pros and cons.

Hey, it all comes down to what you WANT to do with your money and time. do you WANT to spend heaps of money on an ultimate gaming PC and have free access to the interwebz and 32-player multiplayer, or do you WANT to save a couple of thousand dollars and pay $200 for a (quite limited) console and 80 bucks a year for an Xbox live subscription, and sacrifice that extra ability to be able to shoot more guys at once?
When you look at it that way, you're paying like, 2 grand to be able to play with an extra 12 people.

18 people... 80 bucks a year (or free on PS3)
32 people... $2000 gaming PC (rough estimate) plus hundreds of $$'s on upgrades whenever hardware gets out of date...

2000$ for a gaming pc is bs, you can get a good gaming computer for less then $1000.
