The better question is, if they dont want to offend anyone, why do they even say it?

I dunno I don't find cussing makes you sound that much smarter or intimidating. Theres a time and a place for it.

With me the way I talk or type is force of habit based on what I read. Way back when, when I played certain mmos and visited certain forums, swears were censored automatically, I would, for example, start to type fuck as f*uck and even pronounce fuck phonetically as f*uck when I said it.

In fact, one of the imageboards I visit has recently wordfiltered the word "shit" to "polio" as an in-joke, and I've started to say polio instead of shit in real life this past week or so. It just happens for me. I also pick up and lose accents really quickly.

They are doing it because they are told every bloody day not to swear, and when they write it down and look at it it just feels wrong (that or they are just ******* <---i'm sorry, it had to be done). I was always taught that people swore because they weren't intelligent enough to think of anything else to say.

It's fun. I read a lot of comics and so I'm used to my mind filling the blank everytime I see **** or *******. Plus I like to save my swearing for fucking good ocaisons.

Maybe that's why they do it, censorship has become more offensive than swearing.
I like the idea. I like thinking that people write 'c*nt' because you think they're not emotionally ready to read the word.

But as that ginger, eye-linered, paino-molesting god Tim Minchin says; Where does it stop? If you say 'I want to finger your mum.' Do you censor 'Mum' or 'Finger'? Choices, choices...

I dissagree. Swearing is an ancient vein of language and should be utilised for one to have a complete vocabulary. We still use words today that would have been used a thousand years ago. If it's good enough for Stephen Fry, it's good enough for you. - That's a motto to live your life by.

I don't know... I'm pretty sure the mods haven't ever gotten anyone for swearing, because if they did that person could point to Yahtzee and call hypocrisy. It seems strange that someone would do that, though... If you're going to swear, do it. There's nothing in the rules against it, unless you're calling someone a **** gargling thunder****.

I swear even when i'm not angry. On the internet, i try to do that less, and only swear when angry.
