Because it makes us feel more popular. Google is a cold, unfeeling machine. The Escapist is people!

Attempting to be social? Fitting in with the community? I really don't know.

Because, in general, typing an actual question into Google doesn't give you the answer you need.

Also, you might want to change the thread title to something a little more relevant :)

For irony purposes?

Honestly, I think people are scared of getting new information. The amount of people I have to deal with daily who don't want to put any effort into finding the answer because "it's not worth it" is astounding.

It's amazing how much we can learn, and how much people don't care.

To get the feel of the community. You can have the questions answered instantly but it wouldn't be as fun :)

Simple. Every time I go to type something in google it instanly assumes i'm looking for porn. I'm not looking for porn, I rarely am when using google.

You can't find everything with google. Sometimes people are required to get to know some shit.

For instance, I tried installing the Baldur's gate 4 in 1 dvd box set piece of shit and I kinda failed. Google just told me to reinstall. After a few attempts, I asked the escapist and I got all the info I needed to make it work. Thanks to the people helping there.

Usually, people ask questions here they could ask on google because they both want the answer and to talk about the answer. Google is a rubbish conversationalist.

Because people will accept an answer from a person more often than a machine or website.

Perhaps they want to hear what the community's opinion is of the question at hand, as well as getting an answer.

You totally should have just googled the answer.

Also, I like people more than encyclopedias. Or wikipedias, search engines, or steam engines. Though I rarely ask questions unless they're subjective enough to come down to opinion or my google-fu fails.
