The reason most people who hate him seem to hate him is that he is "overpowered" but he hasn't even been the most powerful member of the Main DC earths superhero line up since The Specter emerged. Everyone Seems to like Dr.Manhattan, and he is practically a demigod.

I don't dislike him, but I've never really cared much for him. He isn't really one of those superheroes that I could get behind.

Ehhh.
I don't HATE him but i do dislike some things about him.

I do think he is too "Perfect" but, he is supposed to be.

I like him, but there are other superheros i like better.

superman is boring, he's practically perfect, he spontaneously develops powers to suit the situation and he has no personality.

Did someone say "overpowered" and superman? Nevar =P

I don't like the character because I feel it isn't a well developed character/badly developed character.

What's the point of watching a near-invincible character?
You know that the baddy is going to just pull out some kryptonite, anyways.

I don't hate him, I just find him a little bland and contrived compared to most other long-running characters, comic book and otherwise. His early history (the "power a week" period) doesn't help either, but that's pretty much been ret-conned out by this point, hasn't it?

I think what people like about Manhattan is that he, while being almost god-like in power, he isn't perfect. He has some pretty severe psychological problems, the same can be said for the enitre cast of Watchmen.
On the Superman angle , I don't hate him but I don't find him at all interesting.

The problem with me and superman is that superman is perfect, he only has one weakness, at least characters like Dr Manhattan have actual flaws

He's just kind of boring, you get the sense that he's only saving the day because its something to do. He has no real connection to these fleshy mortal meat sacks, he's from freakin' Krypton. He's not as interesting as Batman, he's not as funny, pathetic and laughable as Aqua Man, and he's not as hot as Wonder Woman. He's really got nothing going for him. Given his powers, and the fact that he just saves the world... because, he'd make an interesting, all powerful villain. But, he's too much of a goody goodie.

I don't mind the overabundance of powers but it's the boring and super blandness of his character and alter ego Clark that makes me go to sleep.

He's boring and has no personality. Additionally, every villain is basically required to have a supply of kryptonite available or superman wins.

I have never read the comics so that is probably why I dont care for him but just based of the movies he is not that exciting of a character cause he always wins and he never does anything interesting.

because no matter what seems to happen to him, he remains optimistic and hopeful about man and the future and that has no place for most of the bitter husks who seemingly read comics anymore.

He's very bland and generic. His villians manage to be even more boring than he is. He's technically unstoppable so much so that writers have to make up conflict in order for there to be a story to write (hence the uncountable amounts of superman dick comics) invovling him. He's just boring. Look I'm all into characters that can pull a weapon when they need it it's not to bothering (although continuity and logic takes in bum a lot) but superman is a character that has no or very little character. If you brought a golem to life it would have more personality than superman.

And that's pretty much it.
