What is it with the Internet community? Why are we so such d*cks against each other? Cant some of us handle the freedom? Why are there so many flame wars? Cause I'm getting pretty tiered of them.
Oh and to get inspired why not watch this vid?

Because, there are people on this site who can't use the all magical search button, or they don't know the rules, and they make repetitive/pointless/offensive threads that wind up getting out of hand.

Flame wars are not exclusive to the internet.

When people get into arguments in real life, do things stay civilized?

Because when in a controversial topic, people will say things like "*Waits for flame war*" or some jackass thing like that. When people hear that, they think it's okay to start a flame war. So they do.

Because people are always convinced their opinion is the right one and is biased towards their arguments and is usually not informed of the other sides points over their own selfishness about being the best, this is based on 360/PS3 fanboys/girls flame wars on a few forums I've been on.

Last time that video was posted.... it started a flame war.

On topic though, I think it largely reflects people pent up rage. Unable to vent in everyday life they get online and relish in the relative anonymity of the internet. Its sad, but take away consequences to actions and people swiftly devolve into shit slinging simians.

Because we can't have people being wrong on the internet, that'd just be stupid.

It's called the Internet dickwad theory.
Seriously though, there is some truth to this.

*edit* someone beat me to it.

True, but people seem less inclined towards arguments than flame wars. I blame this on...

The power of animosity. That spelled right?
...which Firefox is claiming you spelled right, by the way, and the power of anonymity. Well, aside from those who bother to put up profiles with correct information (a dubious idea at best). An argument could lead to physical violence. A flame war, not so much. I should think most people would choose a ban over a bloody nose.

Oh yeah, and they're entertaining, especially when the other side is flat out wrong.

[EDIT] Seems that which I just made up is already a popular theory. Perhaps I should pay more attention to the world. I won't, but I should.
