I'm pretty disturbed by how much objection is there that sounds like this: "He looks like a girl!"

Is there a problem with this? What's wrong with a guy who isn't big and strapping and masculine? You guys are making it sound like he needs a steroid dose and a lumberjack shirt and a beard just to be a real man. I like guys who look androgynous, and I know there are others out there who do (otherwise, there wouldn't be any fans of anime boys, ever, for one). I feel like this is one step away from criticizing tomboys for being too masculine and telling them to go put their dresses on and get back in the kitchen.

Also, oftentimes talent isn't enough to succeed. Whether or not he has any, complaining about people getting famous due to luck is pretty much spitting in the ocean and hoping you'll change something. Lots of famous writers are famous because some guy picked up their not-particularly-special book, happened to like it, and it spread everywhere. (Twilight, Eragon, I'm sure you can name a whole ton of these.)

If someone is famous, clearly they're doing something right, and objection to that shouldn't be directed at the artist -- but at the audience. If Justin Bieber has no talent, sings badly, can't write lyrics, and should by all logic not be liked, then you should really blame the audience for letting him have the time of day, not the artist for trying. He tried. Clearly people like him and his work, or he wouldn't be famous. So that says the audience is a bunch of philistines...but if the audience likes it, they do, and until you change them, he'll continue to dominate.

I think people hate him just because it's the Thing To Do and they have nothing better to hate on.

He doesn't deserve the popularity!!! There are WAY MORE people who deserve that kind of popularity that he has right now.

Let's all gather our pitchforks and bring this mothafugga down!!! Who's with me???? :O

I don't find him annoying. Unfortunately for him, I find his fand incredibly abrasive, and the hate gets subconsciously redirected to him.

He's untalented, never suffered for his art, doesn't know that he is in WAY over his head, thinks he's better than he really is, has no charisma, is generally unlikable, had a career handed to him on silver platter, and has a high annoying voice for singing bland uninteresting music.
I think that was the longest I've ever typed about him without going into a long incoherent mess of insults.
and this video makes me happy

HOORAY FOR AFTER-EFFECTS!
This makes me happy too.

I had a debate with my sister, who incidentaly is not a Bieber fan, about this topic. We came to the consensus that because we don't personaly know Bieber we cant really hate him. We can however hate his rabid fans and the media coverage of him.

For me to hate someone, it would require me to know who this person is. I do not hate him because I do not know him. To be honest, I do not know a lot of people that are on MTV Nowadays. If you tell me anything about a singer/band.

Well, Lady GaGa is an exception simply because she makes a nuisance of herself.

I was a teenager in the 90s and I liked the music from back then and earlier. No Doubt, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Metallica, Green Day, Marilyn Manson, Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey are the singers and bands I grew up listening and that is what I tend to lisen to today. I think I stopped caring about MTV when I turned 24. So far I have not deluded myself into thinking the music from my teenage years is better somehow. I just like listening to it more.

Of course we love making fun of celebrities for no other reason other than the fact that they are celebrities, but this guy gets more hate than the Fuhrer. Every youtube vid I go to theres at least one witty comment about Justin, whether he sounds like a girl or just needs to be vigorously punched in his nonexistent balls people hate on this guy constantly. Why exactly is that?

No offense to Justin Beiber and all of his (probably) wonderful and in good taste fans.
For me it's because he is a music equivalent for Twilight. He represents ideas and characteristics that no kids that age should know about, he has a legion of fans, most of them purely because he is a teenage boytoy, and his music is just BAD.

Let me make this song more fun for you:

Better now?

Anyhow. Why hate Justin Beiber? People already said it: He is popular, talented, and a kid. They are not. Insecurity and envy, some of humanities finer traits. [sub]Now if you were to hate on Stephanie Meyer, that I would understand. She is popular, but her work is horrible. Just saying.[/sub]
That did make it better thank you....if only for the Starcraft referance. :)

I find him dislikable due to his voice being on a frequency that can cause nerve damage... but that's just me...

Well, I hate him because it's cool to hate him, but from what I hear (it's probably biased, but there must be some truth in it) he's also kind of a tool.
Oh and he sounds like and looks like a 10 year old girl, I don't hate him for that, it's just something that's fun to point out.

He gets an unreasonable amount of money and fame for Fritzl-level abuse of an auto-tuner.

I used to be one of those people who said things like 'I can't see how anything can deservedly garner that much hate. Can't be that bad'.

It is that bad. I only actually heard him the other week. It was awful.

I don't. and I probably wouldn't know who he was if not for the asshats who hate him for no reason. He's this bland, forgettable kid whose biggest crime is having a recording career that's rather blah.

Most people probably wouldn't give a damn if hate for him hadn't spread like a meme.
