Why do we have to wear clothes in public?

It's tradition. We've always done it for so long that it's become normalized. If you don't wear clothes then you are not normal. It's also taboo to be naked, which is not normal, and the law prevents you from doing taboo things. Of course you could run around naked on a nude beach if you really want to.

3 good reasons to keep your clothes on
1. clothing has saved me from all sorts of sharp implements that might have hurt me
2. my junk is kinda on the small side much of the time and clothing lets me exaggerate on the size
3. do you really want to see my blindingly white fat ass running around?

Here's an interesting question to examine why certain laws are in place and what constitutes human rights.

Basically if a person does not wear clothes, no harm will come to any other passer by. So why is it illegal to be naked in public?
It isn't illegal to be nude in public (versus naked which is not entirely a synonym for nude) as long as there is no lewd activity. However, privately own companies and businesses do have the right to refuse you service for whatever reason. Plus people probably would look down on you and people would be looking for a reason to make you stop walking around nude(or arrest you). I personally think it isn't worth the trouble.

Fun Fact: naked actually means unprotected whereas nude means unclothed.

guys tend to get distracted enough when we have our clothes on, god knows what they'd be like if we walk around starkers..

also, most people dont wanna see everyone's saggy bits and somewhat repulsive body parts (like dicks, for one). Seeing your significant other nakies is different though...

oh, and it'd be cold.

and OP, why on earth did you stick gay rights in there?

Because in countries where clothes are not mandatory people screw like rabbits and get all sorts of STDs.

By covering up out bodies we can surpress urges (sort of).

OP: At the very least I'd say shoes are a necessity; can you imagine the kind of calluses we'd be sportin after a few days? We'd pretty much never walk anywhere again, or at least nowhere that wasn't carpeted. And since shoes by themselves would look pretty fscking retarded, why not just go the extra mile and put together a whole ensemble?

in the modern age i think that people are just offended because being in the nude seems to have some sexual affect and whenever something akward like that is brought up people are smply repulsed

Because I don't want to look at another guy's junk and I think it would be rather embarrassing to be walking down the street sporting a large boner every time an attractive girl walks by.

Also I don't want to look at fat people naked, ever *shudders*

Essentially.

It's bad enough to have to look at people, let alone know all about the state of the union in one glance.

Have you perhaps heard of Rosie O'Donnell or Larry The Cable Guy or Cedric the Entertainer? There you go

Simply put, this above all else.

We donned clothes first to retain warmth, and to protect ourselves from the elements of the world. When the ideal of humility came about, it became custom to cover one's genitalia. Frankly, it's not one I want to break.
Quoting both of you for truth.

It's illegal, because nobody wants to see people naked, on the street.

Also, it's too cold here to go around butt naked. Maybe in the summer, at the hottest day, perhaps, and even then it would be not enough. Also, with the humility, people just don't feel comfortable walking around the street naked.

If you are an attractive woman, go right ahead and walk around naked, otherwise, no thank you.

Where would we keep our change?

Wait, don't answer that.

And in anticipation of the inevitable smartass comments: (Ahem) Yes, I know about wallets, purses, fanny packs, briefcases, backpacks, courier bags, mail bags, money belts, etc. It's called comedy, people. It's not supposed to make perfect sense.

Sheesh.
