I do it for shits and giggles, mostly.
A truly noble reason indeed.

But besides Max, I think most people post on forums because it's a way to get your opinion noticed and taken account for.

It's a part of globalisation. Today's generations grow up in a world much larger than the one of their parents' and it's only natural that they'd congregate in social groups that are part of the standard of their time.

The answer to this question is the same as one of the reasons for why there are park benches.

I do it to kill the time between work, and sleep. Then when I wake up, I post a little before I go to work.

Why do we even bother to voice our opinions to a random group of strangers whom we are virtually certain to never meet in real life?
Nobody's forcing you.

For fun perhaps for most people.

It's like a conversation with [b/]zero accountability[/b] don't you wish you could have one of those in the real life.

The knowledge that someone, somewhere, actually gives a shit about anything I have to say, that isn't me.

Because this 'random group of people' are all awesome and I enjoy posting my thoughts.

Also, because The Escapist is awesome.

^That is why we post.

Careful, you dunno where she's been!
Just kidding, AE.
Everyone knows where you've been.

Or at least, the Twitterpeeps.
Oh, it doesn't matter. I've gotten enough of her virtua-hugs to prevent any weird things from contaminating me.
And I also post because I like to think that getting my views on stuff out in the world makes other people pay attention more.
But mostly it's to spread the irreverence.

Boredom? The insatiable need to have our opinions heard? Even if, for many, their opinions are dictated to them by someone or something else.

I find forums a lovely distraction from more productive things in life, such as reading World War Z again for absolutely no other reason than to simply be doing something other than nothing. And nothing sounds pretty attractive right now...
