I think we've more or less resolved the topic. Lots of people like characters with an edge: for some it's pure power fantasy, for others it's because flawed characters are great ones...and for most people it's probably a mixture of the two.
It occurs to me, someone could (and probably has) write a paper on how "*****", when applied to a woman, means an assertive woman, whereas when applied to a man it means an unassertive man.
