are there any games that you hate with a passion, because it was too hard, game play, graphics, story, characters, whatever, but you stuck at it till the end of the game/your patience? and if so, why?

for me it would be final fantasy 10
i hated almost all of it, the sphere system, the characters, the story
so why did i play it to the end? im a completionist. i started it, so i wanted to finish it

The answer is simple. To me it is a creed. I always finish a game that I start. There have been very very few exceptions of these over the years and my finished games list I think numbers in the hundreds. The list has increased just a tad recently because of things like the camera in Dead Space which I could not, for the salvation of my soul, get used to. Also, I want to know what happens next, and the fact that I missed that for dead space left me a bit bummed.

While I thought 10 was a step backwards, I hated 12 so so so much. But I still have played it 1/3-1/5 way through before my patience runs out... 3 times. What is with being able to move around in combat, it adds nothing to the game!

for me, most of the final fantasys are only about 85% finished
there is usually a bit where there is only one last dungeon and you have free reign over the map until you go there, but they expect you to level up about 20 levels
and i just cant be bothered

Heck no. If I think a game is shit or it bores me, why the hell would I keep playing it? I've got better things and better games to do and play.

Too many games to mention. Kane & Lynch, for one. The controls were so terrible that I stopped playing after 20 minutes, 'cause the intro was 10 minutes long, and returned the damn game. Lucky I get free rentals working for Blockbuster Video...

Mostly I agree with what Slightly Live said: if it sucks early on, on a technical level, there is no reason to continue. I stopped playing the new Prince of Persia after playing six hours straight because 1) the story went nowhere from the start, 2) the game has the same repetition as Sands of Time/Warrior Within/Two Thrones. It's just plain boring after a while.

As for FFX, I love it. The story is fantastic but: you must be a Final Fantasy fan to the end. See, I hate 5, 7, and X2 but all the rest are great.

Is there any way possible to beat the final boss battle in Creative Assembly's Viking?

Did anyone else play this game but me and G4TV's Xplay?

Anybody?

I spent a literal hour and a half on the final battle and I still can't figure out how to destroy all 4 energy posts without dying. Seriously. I was about to lose my mind.

Oh, and if anyone here actually claims to have finished Dead Rising, all I have to say is...you are a liar. LIAR!

Really? I didn't, when I found out that I would have to fight Seymour a third fricken' time, and an FAQ told me it was one of the hardest fights in the game, but worth it, I said "I disagree" and never picked it up again... It's FF, but not as I know it. :D

Hmm... For me it's Mario Kart 64, now this is a classic game IMO, used to have endless fun playing it with friends. But when it came to the highest class tournaments, I discovered that the AI didn't obey the same laws as you were constrained by, effectively they were dirty cheating bastards... I beat the final tournament out of spite alone.

The first Matrix game, every bit of it was questionable, BUT....it was the driving sections that made me want to push my eye into the back of my brain and mix it up into an Eyebrain smoothie! Yet I played it through to completion.....

Ninja Gaiden II.
I swear it's the hardest game ever. I'm playing on Path of the Acolyte because I heard it was really hard, and I'm still finding it incredibly difficult. I bought it about... 8 months ago, and I'm only on chapter 9. Admittedly I didn't play it for about 4 months, but still, that's ridiculous. I can handle difficult games. I've cleared every COD game on Veteran, the Halo triology on Legendary, and most of my other games on the hardest difficulties. But NG2 is on a whole new level of difficult. It's on the level where the game bends you over and repeatedly rapes you. But I shall persevere and get through it sometime this year hopefully.

EDIT: And as for all you people who said that FFX was difficult, shame on you. I cleared it fairly easily. Provided you take the time to level up instead of rushing through it, any RPG game is easy, FFX especially. In fact, I don't think I ever got a gameover when I went through it. Want a difficult FF challenge? Go through FFVIII without leveling up ie, not fighting needless fights, only bosses and event battles are allowed. Then add the No-GF rule to that. Now THAT is difficult. I think I got to the end of Disc 3 doing that challenge before giving up.

Clive Barker's Jericho.

Seriously everything is wrong with this game, EVERYTHING. The controls suck, the story sucks, the levels suck, the concept sucks..

Basically, I completely agree with the Zero Punctuation Review on this one, and I wish I had of watched that before renting this terrible, terrible game.

But I played it.. I played it.. all the way through. Why? Because I was starved for a horror title at the time, and deciding (Stupidly) not to go back to classic horror games, I wanted to see if the game ever picked up.

Hint: IT DOESN'T!

Assassin's Creed. I hated almost everything about that game. But after a while, I felt I was so invested already that I needed to finish it. And I played it on the PC...

And then the ending was a cliffhanger that resolved nothing. Damn you, recent game franchises! Every story needs a resolution even if it has a cliffhanger as well.

Bloody SSB Brawl, the game has more things to do in it yet the gameplay is shit and nothing can make up for that. It killed my inner child, I say it is the perfect example of everything vs gameplay!

Also the latest Mario Kart is garbage, nearly all exactly the same race tracks and once again the gameplay sucks! What the hell were they thinking?

Tiberium Wars AGAIN with the god awful gameplay, the guy at the store I bought it from said it was fun to play, if I saw him again I would force him to eat the box! Only Westwood could make good C&C games, they were creative and they just knew how to do everything right.

The new prince of persia just annoyed me, the combat was tedius and lackluster, and the characters were completly unlikable.
And the levels all seem to look the same to me until you planted grass or what not.
I thought "fuck this" and traded it in.
[on a slightly related note, i managed to get £20 for it, after only paying £15 for it. yay for trade in profits]
