I troll because it's funny to watch people freak out. But I don't do it to forums and stuff, and when I do it I do it right. IE the person/people I'm trying to troll get pissed off and the rest of the world thinks it's hilarious. (Meaning I don't just post the N word on a forum a few hundred times and call it a day.)
My most successful troll was definitely making the "series finale" to the machinima series called "deus ex machina." It was posted on machinima.com, had the same name and everything so it looked completely legit. The reactions where perfect. The people with senses of humor laughed or played along and posted comments like "great episode digitalph33r" and the die hard fans and idiots flipped a shit. if you're interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPocZwnD55s (the trolling doesn't begin until about 3:00)
