I played it a couple of years ago and quite liked it thought I can't remember much about it right now but I am currently replaying Origins and I have seen quite a few comments completely slamming dragon age 2 which I thought was weird. The one thing I DO remember from playing it was being excited about the next one, and how the story was going to progress, what was going to happen with the war etc

1. Repetitive dungeons, often the same cave 30 times over with barrels shuffled around.
2. Serious pacing issues caused by insanely short development time.
3. Enemies dropping in from the sky or appearing in puffs of smoke / "wave" combat.
4. Some story issues caused by insanely short development time.
5. Ambitious three act structure fell short of promise (due to insanely short development time).
6. Graduation from a more "old school" BG2 era style RPG to a more "modern" ME era style RPG, which rankled some.
7. Mediocre, formless main character.

90% of Dragon Age 2's issues can be attributed to it getting maybe 1/4th of the development time it needed. It was rushed from start to finish, and it showed.

Also, people love to pile on when they smell blood in the water.

Frankly, it's kind of amazing the game ended up charmingly mediocre instead of utterly broken ala Ultima IX.

because it is completely mediocre in every way and Bioware is not a mediocre developer. Also everything Guppy said.

It's a good game on its own but compared to the first dragon age, it's noticeably inferior. Practically everything that was good about origins was mediocre in DA2, like the friendship system, the world setting, the music, the story. Combat was improved, though.

Compleatly agree about the length but then I only paid $28 for it so *shrug*

As for 6 Dragon age origins came out before 2 (obviously) so why would that lead to hatred of 2 when Origins was praised?
