Why does it say that?

So as some of us know valve has just let people play left 4 dead for one day free. But what I don't get is why is says theres only 16 hours left when they said I would get 24 hours starting midnight. Any reasons why?

Valve probably meant 24 hours from their timezone (wherever that is), and as such, maybe the clock for other places is running a little fast.

I though about that but I honestly thought they ment what ever time zone your in then it starts then.

Valve is based in Washington State, I believe, and it's currently 12:18AM Pacific Time; I don't think this is the explanation. Probably just a mistake, I'm sure you'll get your full 24 hours.
