Why doesn't TF2 have a female character/ if you could make a female char, what would she be like?

I'm a friend with one of teh creators of TF2, and he said it was mostly through fear of making it easier for the Rule-34 guys.
And they can't make gay rule 34 because....

don't you remember? The pyro is a woman
Lies! The pyro is male, just gay. The purse in his locker shows this. THE JOKE IS THAT HE'S A FLAMER HURRRRR

I think the spy is a woman really. After all, 'he' is meant to be the 'master' of disguise. Bwha! She is the mistress of disguise!

How about making female models for all the TF2 characters?
EDIT: Shit! Wrong link.

Here: http://t03nemesis.deviantart.com/art/Team-Fortress-Fan-Girls-111649757
the heavy gun weights about 150 kilos... i think the gun would be to heavy for that woman... maybe a more brute-like woman would be beter.

I would rather there not be just one female characters, but maybe female versions of all the characters. Unfortunately it's probably impossible to avoid the 'Zoe-esque' sexual taunts.
We'd have to call the Demoman the Demowoman then.

Remember, TF2 is set in the 60s. As for the Pyro, I don't think he's female, he's already extremely unhinged so technically one could explain the purse simply because he's stark raving bonkers.

The Cop.

Strengths: Area control, "tanking", stalemate breaker and support in large fights, up-front melee
Weaknesses: Can't do damage at long distance
Weapons: Bulletproof riot shield + baton, tear gas grenades, taser, pump action shotgun, ?

I don't think its a good idea, but if they would do it, they need to make a female version of all classes, same gameplay wise, diffrent charcter wise (Nanny medic? pro athlet scout?) and diffrent nationalitys too.

Only one I can imagine being female is Pyro. Am I the only one who finds a female Pyro attractive? I mean, come on. Well... anyone else would probably have difficulty kissing a gas mask. But really.

As for why didn't they make female classes... It's probably because they didn't want to offend anyone and/or make something unsuitable.

One theory is:

If they made only one female character, some female gamers may feel compelled to play as that character. Since class-jumping is part of the game, this kind of puts a hinder on it.

The only way around that would be to not have any female characters (thus avoiding having to design any new models for the game) or to have female versions of every character.

But that's just one theory.

That makes sense - and having female versions would mean more confusion on initial sighting - if you listen to the developer commentary, they where extremely keen to reduce visual overload and confusion as much as possible.

B) You. Don't. Hit. Girls.
Yes I know it comes off as sexist, but it's true. Most males have an inherent inability to hit a girl. In my friend's words "I see a spy, I shoot him. I see a female spy, I feel a twinge of guilt... which might cost me my life." Alternatively, if the roles are reversed, you don't really feel guilty putting a knife into a heavy's back. He's the big dumb slow guy. If it was a girl, and you hear her scream as you stab...
You know... i'm not afraid to hit girls, because they have an equal chance to hit me back. god damn the freaking women's right's groups should get on that... or is that to morally wrong?
