I don't think every harem has that self-insert protagonist. The crappy ones do though. Bravo Girls, Rosario+Vampire, and To Love-Ru all have really easy insert protagonist. Massive beta males? Check. Rely on the girls for everything? Check. Somehow has a harem even though he's boring as crap? Check. I don't agree with Noucome though, the protagonist is actually considered attractive, so it makes sense girls might like him. And every girl besides Chocolat had feelings for him before his powers. I haven't seen The Index series, so I can't argue with you there.Izanagi009 said:snip
I actually don't care for the moe genre, but it has slowly invaded even some mainstream anime. Hiding in the cute girls with big eyes. I too don't see the point of moe, I even tried to watch my first Moe series this anime season. Four episodes in I just gave up. They somehow even have less character and story development than harems. But I still think they have a right to exist.
