So lately a number of topics have popped up in which the person doesn't like one thing or another and questions why the threads are even there, etc.

I'd like to point out something though...

Why should a thread be stopped because someone doesn't like the topic?

I mean, really the basic question is:

Why do people go into threads and state that they wish they would stop showing up? I mean isn't that counter productive in a sense since by posting that, they are fueling the flame and keeping the thread alive???

I'm guessing this is about the pony threads, (and judging by the fact your last 4 posts were in a pony thread I'm pretty certain of that.)

It's not so much them being a topic I don't have any interest in, it's just when the forum ends up overwhelmed with multiple threads all about My Little Pony, and they are usually endlessly retreading the same subject "Why is it so popular?" "why is it so hated?" "Who'se your favourite pony?"

Case in point: There are currently 3 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.316357-A-study-of-Archetypes-MLP-FIM-and-Fosters] MLP [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.316365-Why-is-My-Little-Pony-so-popular] threads [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.316366-My-fellow-BRonies-and-Pegasisters-I-need-your-help] on the front page, and one [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.316223-Epic-Cupcake-Time-MLP-and-EMT] in the second page.

Pretty much this. Speaking of that, I'm disappointed by them. It's been quite a while since one has popped up and then -BAM!- three back to back to back.

I dunno.

Perhaps they're just trying to get an extra post on their counter? Who knows, you'd have to PM them to find out.

Not specifically no. I've seen this kinda thing in everything from minecraft threads, to skyrim threads, to everyone hating fox news, etc. Pony thread just gave me the needed umph to actually make a post about it.

Ohh I completely support disliking something and putting it out there. I'm talking about people who go into threads JUST to state that they should stop showing up.
