Why hate Wii Music?

Could someone please explain to me why almost everyone hated the Wii Music announcement at E3? I don't get it. I was actually pretty intrigued at the idea of using the Wiimote and Nunchuck to play instruments freely instead of the Guitar Hero/DDR color-matching crap. (Note: weirdaljedifan2 believes that Guitar Hero could be one of the most over-rated franchises of all time.) Really, I just want an answer to my question. And please, FTLOG, no flame comments. (Note: Guess what FTLOG means.)

Because people were expecting so much more from it. Everyone had in their minds eye an idea of actually playing the remote and nunchuck exactly as you would the real instruments. And then there was the first demonstration, and that wasn't what it was. It was just random waving, or playing buttons.
I'm not saying it will be bad, I'm just saying everyone was expecting a lot more.

At least Rockband etc...is a decnt game, I didn't see the point of wii music, they were just randomly pretneding to play stuff, that'll get old very quickly.

I smell hypocrisy. Isn't all you do in "Rockband etc..." pretend to play stuff?

Wii Music appeared to be the big Nintendo announce, so it confirmed that Nintendo would have no games aimed at veteren gamers for at least a year. No Metroid, Zelda, Star Fox. Just more casual titles. I have not used my Wii sence Metroid Prime 3. I am considering selling it.

Yes, but from what I saw of Wii music theres no real "game" to it, at least in Rockband you have to hit certain colours in time to whats happening on screen, on the wii you press random butons which make set sounds to...whatever comes into your head?

Thats like a kids toy...but if thers anything to describe the wii its that (had to be said)

Hmmm...... What comes into your head..... Like a.... REAL musician!? Perposterous. It's kind of like owning the real instruments only it would take less skill. I can see my argument dying if they screw up the controls, but lets keep our fingers crossed. Also you do get to play along to songs, only it's not the same way as in guitar hero or rockband. The only problem im seeing is that im afraid with the younger audiences there will be no way to improvise to a song "wrong". If everything sounds good then whats the point? But if they nail improvision then i can see this game being a hit.

I play music, drums, guitar (5 string and bass), piano and saxphone (lol, not very well) and I assure you I don't generally make stiff up (besides drums and guitar) the controls look sunintresting and boring.Theres no realy structure, no aim to it. It'd be fun for all of 5 mins if its like the E3 shown version.

Because it's not a game, it's a toy.

And a simplistic one at that.
Seconded but I'm going to go further and say its not even a toy its an amazingly simplistic tool rather than a game. Thats right a tool as in like a pc program that its fun to mess around with for all of 3 minutes then you realise "what do I do with the songs I make?" Noones going to listen to them except you when you make them and when you play them back (does it have that feature?) making it a "rock band:sim city version" in my opinion.

As yathzee would say "don't hold high expectations for any game, if their good great if there not you get the satisfaction of knowing your better than fanboy twats"
I don't give two shits of what Yahtzee says. He has his opinions, I have mine.
