Why havent they made a new mario game

OT: New Super Mario Bros (DS) was excellent but I think Nintendo should move into other, better franchises now (more Zelda? Star Fox?)

OH GOSH YES STAR FOX.

I would adore Nintendo for making a first-party Star Fox game in the spirit of Star Fox 64. Most companies eventually break down and give the fans what they want: why hasn't Nintendo delivered yet? >.<

It hasn't
If you've been playing them, then you would know that with each one, new concepts and gameplay mechanics are being introduced. Mario evolves more from game to game more than most other game series. (Especially shooters.)

I know what your talking about, And I may just be one of the very few out there who also would like to see that done. I assume you would want it to look identical to the SMW look only revamped in HD, only bigger, with new features. NOT like Super mario galaxy (1 or 2) and NOT like New Super Mario Brothers Wii. If that's what you mean, then yes i agree. I would enjoy that too.

Like how about a Mario that's all steampunk and is a more mature re-telling of the story (it doesn't have to be a rated M game, just try making a less childish version and see how the fans respond)

Or how about do Pokemon set during WWII or something, with like a soldier using his pokemon to defend himself against the germans, instead of some dumbass kid always going "LOL! GOTTA CATCHEM ALL!"
