I remember my dad showing me this on foxtel one day *for some reason it was being played* and my god I laughed I mean it may be low brow slack jawed humor but is this really any worse than some untalented writers making half the jokes on there show based around celebrities which are barley funny?

Oh no, the 3 Stooges were masters of their trade - as were Laurel and Hardy, Harold Lloyd, Charlie Chaplin and Abbot/Costello.

But to bring them back under different actors, with pop-culture references for "TODAY'S YOUTH!" is the most backhanded insult I can think of.

As you said, you loved them - and that's 80 year old humour. If you're going to remake something, don't just refry it - because all you'll get are burnt bits and a sour taste.

If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, 'Who's on First?' might have turned out something like this:

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT.

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Hello I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.
ABBOTT: Your computer?
COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.
ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

As for this whole Three Stooges movie thing, I really don't like where this is going. Making a movie with characters similar to the original trio could be good in my opinion, but I really doubt that anyone would be able to act just like Larry, Moe, and Curly. I seriously hope they don't really go through with this, as I doubt that it will really be that good.

On a somewhat related note, when I saw the title for the thread, I figured that it was on something else but since I'm somewhat of a fan of the Stooges I couldn't help but think of Moe saying that line. I thought, you know I should make a thread about the Three Stooges, but then I went into this thread and, what do you know, its a thread about the Three Stooges.
