Treyarch for COD5? Did they not learn anything after the COD3 shambles?

maybe they are trying to get a vibe going on. you know like how every odd numbered star trek movie is shit?!

Kukakku, you just embarassed the Internet and humanity. China, arguably, has the claim to have been the first battleground of World War 2, in 1937, invaded by Japan. Nationalist China was an important recipient of American military supply and intelligence assistance.

Yes, I registered to answer that gobsmackingly weird post, and only that.

I hope Teryarch is going to learn from IW's success, and NOT make CoD5 a WWII shooter. No alternate WWII history shooters either, just a game set it, oh i don't know, modern times?

Hell, a futuristic shooter with aliens is a nice change with all of these WWII shooters everywhere.

There are just as many futuristic space shooter swith aliens out there as there are WW2 shooters, the modern day period is a relativly untapped resource or at the very least still has people gripped for now.

PS my prefered shooter is a war game where u can choose ur battlefield and be dropped right into the huge war ya know? open world war fighter u can choose to go to a battle with ur firends grab a convoy sum equipment haul ass to the warzone and start whoopin ass and if u die return to base and can go back there unless u travel again taht is perfect!

Others have said it, but I second the call that if COD5 will be set in WW2, can we at least try some battles other then D-day(everyone and their mother has done D-Day. It's getting old) and the Ardennes?

The Pacific would be nice. As far as I know, only a few other games have done that and apparently they've mostly been Crappy MoH games.

I don't think Market Garden has been done much, though I could be wrong. I wonder if players could handle a battle where the allies fight hard but still lose in the end because the plan was badly concieved to begin with.

COD5 WILL...probably... be in the pacific, my uncle works with infinity ward and he said that 99% Treyarch will be doing COD5, i like COD3, so it cant be that bad. And about 90% chance that it will be in the pacific, that although , might not be so nice :p, unless they do India and China... possibly not..

I think the war genre isn't dry, it just needs innovation. However, I agree with the OP. Treyarch has never done anything to convince me they are competent publishers.

Korean War! Korean War!

It would only be 5 years after WWII, but the plot would be so different, with you battling North Korea for the first half of the game as 'United Nations' troops and then have to face the Chinese zerg rush in the middle half that would force the UN troops to run for their dear life. Oh, and the pending threat of nucler annihlation would be fun as an alternate ending.

I'm a lot into realism and tinkering and i wonder when they introduce
anything else than the pure fighting scences into the game. After all,
the everyday small battles are often settled before the actual battle
commences posting guards and making sure you gather enough rations
(weighing you down) before going on a long scouting raid.

I'm thinking
perhaps like S.T.A.L.K.E.R but with open battlefields and stealth/sabotage
missions instead of cleaning out dungeons(secret research-labs). It could be
set in chechnya and you could random generate a HUGE map everytime you play
and spawn in random soldiers every once in a while that can see from far away
(so you need to take bullet drop into account for once).

Why not the earlier wars with blackpowder weapons?

A nice change to just mowing down endlesslyspawning armies

with a .50 caliber machine gun. You have to think before you

squeeze the trigger.

Or maybe Invading Sweden?
YES i'd love to invade Sweden, anything to step away from the arabic, german, russian and asian enemies. Let's say sweden invaded by... Iceland!! it's great email the C.O.D administration!
Can't we invade America? I've been waiting a long time for a game like that.

Hey, what's to stop them from having both D-Day and China?

I'm not very familiar with any COD game, but from what I understand, it has three campaigns - one American, one Russian, one British.

Here's an idea:
COD 5 has five campaigns. The Russian and British campaigns will resemble their older counterparts, though the British campaign does deal with D-Day (dropping you on Gold or Juno instead of Omaha).
Then there are the American campaigns. There are two. The Airborne one takes place in Western Europe, and has you at D-Day... as a paratrooper. You start off being dropped into a swamp, and you have to find your unit before the Germans kill you. The Marine campaign takes place in the Pacific, and will be the toughest campaign of all. Combat is mostly amphibious landings under fire and jungle warfare.
Finally, there is the Resistance campaign. This would be the best option for a Chinese campaign, though they could just as easily go to Europe and put you in the French Resistance. It is mostly stealth based. It would be harder than most, but it doesn't pit you against as much firepower, and you have the element of surprise 99% of the time.

I do like the idea of a Korean War shooter. Or, if CoD is willing to delve into a bit of alternate history, maybe have the Cold War go hot?

Also, the reason for no shooters using blackpowder weapons: 3 rounds per minute rate of fire, which translates to 20 seconds between shots. I guarantee that 99% of players will fire one shot, then fix bayonets and charge.

My final idea isn't really one that CoD can do, because the campaign options are rather limited, and the political baggage weighs about three metric tons: the Six Day War. It offers a new conflict, a new set of weapons (1960s era + uzis), and a campaign that literally spans the entire war. Plus, there's a chance for a really emotional battle in Jerusalem. Maybe some Israeli developer could do it?

I'd like a WW2 game to be set in China. That would be sweet.
yea...except china wasnt IN WW2
*blink blink* Are you serious? Like, do you honestly believe that China wasn't in World War 2? Is this what you were taught? Please tell me you were trying to be sarcastic, because that would make me feel a lot better.
