Why is information about Vita games so scarce?

Okay, I own a Vita, I love my Vita, I play it more than any other system. Yes I am aware that it's probably the weakest console out at the moment, and it doesn't have many games on the horizon.

My question is why the hell is every game that IS coming out for the Vita either completely flying under the radar or has some strange kind of hush hush from the developers? Take the promised port of Munch's Oddysee HD. We know its still getting tweaked but not a damn word on progress, a date, or even a video of it playing. Okay J.A.W is a small studio and they have a lot on, but not even a blip for it's Vita fans?

How about Borderlands 2? All we have even from the developers and even Sony (Who I think are funding the port, not too sure)is a bloody picture from the announcement. Can't we have anything to show that at least it isn't cancelled? And if it is cancelled stop leaving us hanging already! Final Fantasy X HD finally (no pun) got announced as launching alongside the PS3 version in the west. Why the hell did it take them this long to announce it? Was there honestly any reason not to? If its so soon then presumably it's finished or almost done!

As for Sony itself I didn't even know a version of Lemmings was in development until a wiki page appeared. Don't even get me started on the God of War HD collection that may or may not exist! Is Konami ever going to tell us if Zone of the Enders HD is actually dead or not?

The secrecy that surrounds these just annoys me to no end. It's not like there are story details to cover up, they're ports! I want more games on Vita, and frankly I don't mind if their all ports (I had a Gamecube when these games first came out so they're new to me), how are the people who DID get a Vita and you're depending on to purchase your product supposed to get excited if everything just has 'Coming 2014' written next to it???

I can forgive the Bioshock one a little bit more as Levine has at least said he still wants to do it but no-one wants to give him the money for it. When people have actually put money down for these things and are expecting an investment back would it really kill them to just say 'Yeah, the game is ( )% done, here are some screenshots, should be hitting sometime soon'.

I'll add 'Fez' to my list of annoyances. One picture but no even vague release date.

Its due to Vita being a failure, think Sony and other companies are more content to concentrate on PS3/PS4 as it makes them cash. Only other thing is look on this list from wiki. Might have a few hidden gems with links to info.

I'm still not sure if it's a failure yet. I mean, it did sell more in 2013 than the WiiU did if that says anything. It just isn't a huge success.

I really like my Vita and the games that come out for it. Honestly, my biggest complaint is the memory stick. For my PSp, I never bought games for it because it Had that crappy 256mb stick that came with it. Then, someone came out with an adapter and I popped in a 64GB stick. Now I have a ton of games for it that I bought from Sony.

Maybe if they drop the proprietary card nonsense then it'd be more popular and sell more software. I do see some game support that makes more more hopeful. I'll buy tearaway before our next trip. Some of the games are really good. The device itself is a better alternative than our tablet due to it's size and gaming capabilities so I really hope they step up their game.

I believe that most handhelds take a bit of time to develop a base. If I remember correctly PSP was supposed to flop but turned out to have some damn good games in the end. The Vita is actually a well crafted handheld, easy to use and not headache inducing. I'd bet that if From Software decided to do a Demon's Souls port or maybe a Dark Souls related tie-in it would kickstart a flood of Vita buys. I'm still waiting for a flood of JRPGs to appear out of nowhere too, because for some reason that seems to happen on handhelds, one day nothing the next day "WTF? Where'd these RPGs come from?"
Maybe thats just because I don't pay attention to handheld announcements.

The memory card problem is the single worst aspect to me, even worse than the lack of games. Right now you can buy tons of excellent Vita games on the PSN for less that £12 but I already have games I don't keep installed due to a lack of space. When I can buy Need for Speed for £7.99 but downloading it would take up 1/4th of my memory card and I'd have to fork out more than the price of a boxed game for more space something is very wrong. It doesn't help that every game comes with a ton of patches post launch too.

The Vita is defiantly a lovely system apart from that problem though. The screen and controls are the nicest I've used on a portable, it's just a pity no-one, least of all Sony, seems to give a damn about using any of them. We've had three FPS games that Sony had a major hand in giving us, two were awful and one was pretty good. The best one on it in my experience is Strangers Wrath, a port of a game that's nearly ten years old. Whilst Sly 4 was great, the Jak collection was a buggy mess. Playstation All-Stars was great but they binned any support from the game because it wasn't the smash hit they demanded.

Despite its low sales you don't see Nintendo bringing out complete disasters for the WiiU, so whats going on Sony?

I love my Vita too, and there's plenty of information out there if you dig for it. There's not always information on what you want to know about, but there's news everyday. At the very least, knowing about something doesn't make it release any sooner.

'At the very least, knowing about something doesn't make it release any sooner.'- True, but I'm endlessly reminded of Resident Evil PSP, where we didn't know anything about it and still don't, including when Capcom decided to can it and just denied it anyway.

In my experience you here announcements of games but not the actual game because its bad. I don't think that is true with the VITA. I didn't even know Dragon Crown was on vita and I've heard someone say it actually looks better on the OLED

With Nintendo it seems like they just make hardware specifically for a input in a game. It almost feels like the Wii was just made so Miyamoto could be Link. The Console started with Zelda and ended Zelda. Sony seems to make great hard ware with useful inputs that they'll never use again like the 6 axis PS3 remote. I used that infamous 1 but not its sequel

Well, it's a handheld. 1) They're not as prolific as PCs and consoles and 2) Nintendo's the handheld king. Unless you're fiercely pro-Sony or haven't got a clue, you're probably buying a Nintendo handheld.

I said it made it an unpopular option, not a bad one.

what do u mean the vita is the weakest console out there dude the vita is one of the most graphicaly impressive handhelds we have had ever i mean the graphical power of vita is almost ps3 worthy if anything the wii u and 3ds are the weakest consoles
I'm sorry, but by "weakest" we mean game library, not technical power.

Though, funny enough, i'm going to buy Vita in the future, because it has games in which i'm interested in:
Dragon's Crown, Earth Defense Force 3 Portable, Gravity Rush, Muramasa Rebirth, Ninja Gaiden Sigma+ (yeah i know that Black is better), Persona 4 Golden, Soul Sacrifice, Wipeout 2048, Zero Escape VLR, Oddworld HD and Tearaway.

While on 3DS i'm only interested in Crush3D, SMTIV, DS: Soul Hackers and Shinobi. Oh, and maybe MH3U and smth from Nintendo.

As for upcoming games, i'm waiting for:

Kodoku. And...that's all? Sad :(

I found that concerning as well. Back when I made a post about whether I should get a Vita or 3DS XL, I mentioned that more PS Vita game had my interest, but this was from first impressions. There was little information of them.

Also, the proprietary memory killed it for me. I can either buy the system and an expensive, glorified SD Card, or I can get a 3DS and use a 32GB SD Card I have just laying around. It was an easy choice at that point...

There's a lot of games coming out for it this year, and a good deal of them exclusives too. Not only that but a good batch came out in 2013. Tearaway, Soul Sacrifice, Ys Celceta, Killzone M, Muramasa, Dragon's Crown and a bunch of indies are all good picks. And soon we're getting Danganronpa, Toukiden, Soul Sacrifice Delta, Freedom Wars, Project Diva is being localized, and more indie stuff like the binding of isaac remake, hyper light drifter or shantae. And i'm not even counting a good deal of ports. And if you're lucky enough to speak japanese, then you get double that since you can import

The vita has it's problems (the memory cards price, like pointed above, and while it does have a nice batch of game, the support for it is of course less than the 3ds). But there's a lot to be had on it, plus it has some nice advantages with it's hardware and online solution.

If someone says the vita has no games, he obviously haven't did a lot of research

Yes, but remember this is the gaming community we're talking about. The same people who proclaim Nintendo is dying or dead every three weeks. "Failure" basically seems to translate to "thing I don't like is doing wore than something else."

However, low sales probably do have a hand in this.

No, but hype is an important part of the game industry and you'd think they'd want people to buy their games if they're going to the trouble of making them.
