Why is Minecraft Fun?

i am highly considering buying minecraft but i thought.

What makes Minecraft Fun?

and how im aiming the question at the escapist. I Think the game looks fun because u can build whatever you want and play loads of cool custom maps.

But what do you guys Find in minecraft That you love and make you keep coming back to it?

Building whatever you want is a big draw. Also it makes you work for it by mining materials, so (in the words of Yahtzee) "when you finally have your giant golden cock and balls, you love it all the more".
The enemy mobs at night just add to the sense of achievement.

Because taking my childhood memories of Lego and Duplo and combining them with my love of gaming and my imagination wrapped together in one package produces Minecraft.

It's virtual Legos...with monsters. As a child, I loved me some Legos, so naturally that is why I find Minecraft so much fun.

*Making your own mods, texture packs, & skins.
*Youtube Machinamas.
*Reliving the best parts of playing The Sims or LEGOs.
*The game is always changing, between new mods & official updates.

I make custom skins for people & try out texture packs, which I make screencaps of & post for people to decide if that's a pack they want to use. I do it because the screencaps the modders make are not very enticing.

As a potential new user, I recommend bookmarking the Minecraft Wiki & Planet Minecraft, they will both be very useful.

You'd better get it quick; when the game is officially released & no longer in Beta, the price will go up.
