Do this and let us see what happens. Routers use a thing called DHCP to take the IP address that the ISP assign you and chop it up so that more than one piece of equipment on your home network can connect to the internet. This is done through some voodoo called a NAT or network Address Translator. It would take more awake than I have left to explain but NAT is slow if it's not set up right. A static IP address...err..oh damn, it's 01:44am and I've lost my train of thought in some sidings near Warrington.
