Seriously. They're GALAXY SIZED ROBOTS THAT CAN SUMMON DRILLS AND EVEN SQUASH GALAXIES TOGETHER FOR ENERGY ATTACKS. What the hell isn't marketable, and what part of that wouldn't make a good game? Someone needs to make this now. Preferably on all platforms.

Because what works well in a movie, book, or TV series does not always translate well into a game.

The thing is that the concept involved after however many episodes of build up is very cool, leading to a battle between mechanical titans on a godlike level believable within the storyline, or at least entertaining.

Implemented into a game however that entire scene would just be two robots shown on the screen floating in a starscape, the galaxies are just circular blobs, and honestly the energy blasts and drills are just energy blasts and drills. It would fundementally be like any other mecha-combat ever done despite the level of the concept... and to be fair the only unique thing about that one is the power level, I don't even really consider it one of the better giant robot fights as far as the exact choreography and such goes.

It's a good anime series, but one you should probably be happy they aren't over merchandizing... or at least not internationally.

Also you have to understand this would be a product for hardcore fans only, which limits the appeal of marketing it. One problem with anime inspired games is that unless your already familiar with the storylines which can get quite involuted they are pretty bad, and there is no way to give hundreds of hours of gradual backstory and development adequetly for someone new to the idea. On a fundemental level that battle is one of the most idiotic things ever, I mean the idea is just pure stupid, BUT the cool thing about the anime is that it was able to sell something that ridiculous and get you to suspend disbelief in the context of the series. You just throw something like that out there to Joe gamer without all the gradual development and they are going to think it's the work of a mentally slow child on a sugar high.

Good anime, bad game idea.
