The 360 can hook up any MP3/Video player that has a USB cable (including the unholy PSP and ipod)

I had a DS lost it (been lost for 2 years don't care) and only had a wii for a month then sold it.

EDIT: I'm on a dell the PC fanboys system of choice.
Fine, be a *****.

But i usually use my laptop which is a dell, though it's remarkably slower than the one i'm using right now (though it is a laptop :\)

You need to make a playstation ID and register and even then finding your music and videos is a painful procedure of folder searching.

My complaint is there is no second nub to control the games MS has no done this to me (P.S they have Windows Mobile and that thing you have on laptops)

They are expensive (around 2000) but have the same profile/performance of a $1500 one form DELL or HP.

I don't hate sony, I just wish the console would be cheaper and the games weren't so expensive. :(

I agree with AceDiamond there. when the consumers feel the company is intentionally misleading them, it's natural to find something wrong with this. even more so when the company seems to disrespect the consumer and have nothing but contempt for them.

Why the hate for sony? because they have no respect for the consumer. of course, that doesn't stop most people from buying sony products, just makes them complain about it. and as long as sony keeps getting the moola, they won't care who the piss off.

I actually just bought a PS3, although I only bought it to replace my PS2, which had broken. The value of the PS3 is, to me, currently housed almost entirely in future potential.

My observations so far:

Cons:

- I bought MGS4, but I'm not sure that I'm as "into it" as I'm supposed to be. C'est la vie. I'll beat it eventually, but right now I'm mostly playing my old PS2 titles again, which goes to show how gripping the PS3 lineup is for me at present. It's also worth mentioning that the only other currently released game that even interests me is Ratchet and Clank. So yeah, basically the library is lacking.
- I rented a few titles to confirm my earlier observations and so far I'm right. I can't find a single game that I own for the X360 that plays better on the PS3. Some are basically the same, some are noticeably worse, and most of the PS3 titles have install times, which should improve performance, and yet somehow doesn't.
- I don't like the controller, but then I never really have. Damn thing feels too light in my hand.
- What the hell is with the rounded top? I have limited space and wanted to lay it flat, but with how heavy it is, I didn't want to set it on top of my other crap. However, since the top is apparently designed to remind us of a car's hood, I can't stack devices on it and had to set up a special separate area to stand it up in.

Pros:

- I like the built-in wireless, although mine has a tendency to blink at times, that may be normal for everyone, PSN connection trouble, or just my unit, I'm not sure. Question to longer term PS3 owners: how stable is the PSN connection over wireless supposed to be?
- I enjoy the menu system. It's less cluttered than the 360's, and while I'm unconvinced that it's "better", I think they did just fine with it.
- The ability to sync up my bluetooth headset for my cellphone with the PS3 instead of having to go buy "their brand" was a nice touch.
- While I don't own any BluRay movies, I'm sure that at some point I will be glad to own a machine that can play them. I will say that the PS3 plays my current movies very well (possibly better than the 360, though it's tough to say for certain), although it seems to require that I turn the sound up really high for some reason.

Other:

- Where the hell is Home, LittleBigPlanet, and White Knight? Those were the things that made me most excited about a PS3, and now that I finally have one, I feel that Sony owes me these products at once.
- This is too circumstantial to be listed as a true "con", but in my circle, I know one (count them, one) guy who owns a PS3 but not an XBox, but I know dozens of guys who have 360's and may also own PS3's. What this means is that most of us buy our multiplayer games on XBox anyway, to get maximum multiplayer coverage. This saddens me.

But I guess this is supposed to be a thread about Sony, not their latest home console unit, and on that front I can say that in the computing market, Sony has made overpriced and underperforming products for years. In fact, you can stick "overpriced" on almost anything they do. Also, their customer service is nigh-legendary for how bad it is. Lucky for them, while their hardware is rarely top of the line, it usually doesn't have too high a failure rate either.

I don't care for Sony as a company at all, but if good games come out for their system, I'll buy.

the wireless stability is dependant upon the game. for example, i used to run a weak 34% signal and when playing Warhawk it was magically flawless. however, with other games it was spotty and inconsistent.

in the end i had to hardwire it anyways since wifi signals don't like transmitting through antique tin ceilings.

Ah. I haven't played anything online yet, I've mostly just noticed it when I'm on the menu screen. There'll be some error that basically says, "You're not on the PSN anymore and we don't know why." Then I go sign in again and I'm back on, then five minutes later I'm off again. I plan to hardwire it for gaming. Hell, the MGS4 manual flat-out tells you not to use wireless.

yeah, i think its an issue of accounting for "packet loss" and most videogames don't account for it well. wireless is never consistent, no matter what device you use.

This thread has become the target of many a fanboy I see.
I personally dislike sony because of their overpriced electronics, and the false promises.

I own a PS3 and a Xbox360 too, and though the PS3 makes for a great blu-ray player,
it rarely gets any playtime because the current library isn't that great in my opinion.
I can understand why people love the system, it's sleek, silent, has a pretty XMB, but the only reason i'm keeping it is for the occasional Blu-ray and the future potential in mind. (LittleBigPlanet, amongst others)

And oh yes, the Xbox360 has some big flaws too, but I play it for several hours every single day, and that is what matters most.

Since when do we decide underdog by that? Are you blind man? The Underdogs are always the group thats been bone idle lazy, is made up of dysfunctional weirdos, but got their ass into gear and are finally at the top. And thats Nintendo all the way. Haven't you ever seen a cheesy sports movie that wasn't Bad News Bears?
un·der·dog (ndr-dôg, -dg)
n.
1. One that is expected to lose a contest or struggle, as in sports or politics.
2. One that is at a disadvantage.

They don't have to win in the end to be an underdog (Cube was the underdog of last gen and it got crushed)
Why can noone ever see when I'm kidding?

Has anyone mentioned how the Ps3 is curing Cancer through Folding@Home?
Haha, i forgot about that. My Folding@Home application hasn't worked for months, and it won't update to the current version. I think i've only contributed 1 unit but i really wish it would work again.

Thats odd, I've never lost a connection with mine.
Never?

yeah, that is odd. you're probably the only person on the planet to ever use Wi-Fi and "never" lose a connection.

Never means exactly what it says. It goes off when my parents terminate the wireless network, or when I turn off the connection and play single player, but aside from that, its been really strong. However, that same connection couldn't handle even a moment of online Brawl on my Wii.
congratulations?

i assure you that your experience is a rare one.

Really? I can't think what would cause that. You might want to try some online help, if you want to fix it.
It's probably because i completely forgot about the application and left it to stand still for months. when i finaly remembered it wouldn't update to the current version, probably because they upgraded it alot.

I thought of deleting it and downloading it again, but i don't know if i would be able to or if i could i wouldn't know where.

EDIT: Hang on, it's starting to download again. Hopefully it'll go through the whole thing instead of stoping mid-download.

Add biased to this list.

P.S. If you haven't heard grom me lately it's because my computer was down.
P.P.S. My computer is Vista.
P.P.P.S. Vista was made by Microsoft.
P.P.P.P.S. So was the Xbox360.
P.P.P.P.P.S. They both crash more than my PS3.

One last note before this thread dies out (i'm assuming)

It seems to me that Sony is the only one of the 3 companies that is really trying to make an effort with anything recently.

Think about it, I havn't heard of a "firmware update" for the 360 (if they even get those, i'm not sure) or a new service for it, hell i havn't heard to much from Nintendo at all lately.

Sony is the only one right now giving it's consumers new things, even if some of them are "copied". I've heard of Trophys, Home, Life, new updates to the recent firmware updates.

All i heard from M$ (from my experience) is Gears of War 2, Fable 2, and Halo Wars. Basically all i'm hearding from MS is their games. (nothing's wrong with that, but is their anything else they have planned? Like new features to LIVE? or new dashboard options or something?)

I havn't heard from Nintendo in a long while, i hope they give us something good at E3.

But yeah, that's how i see it.

1. Jumplion has a goodpoint. I agree with it.

2. Folding@home is so full of win, doesn't take any effort and can be done when your not on your PS3 (activate it, switch TV to Cable/Satellite, ???, Profit!)

3. Connecting the PSP to PS3 is very, very fast. Connect the 2 using a USB cable and go to Remote Play under options in PS3, click register device, and literally about 5 seconds later it's good to go. Not hard or slow at all.

Hmm, I love PS3 and I also have and xbox and I love it too..but maybe the reason a lot of people hate sony is because of the it's neck to neck competition with what ever game or console released by microsoft or whatever game company. i guess that's just the way it is, big companies have to make aggressive campaigns or they will be left behind.
