Why so much PC gamer hate recently?

Hi. I'm a lifelong PC gamer. I also have several consoles and appreciate most types of games across every medium possible. The more the merrier. Also, I love Dragon Age 2. I also loved Dragon Age Origins. I'm old enough to recall the old Black isle Baldur's Gate games and dislike them from the very moment they came out. I dislike the Infinity Engine and always have.

I also enjoy long walks on the beach.

What I'm getting at here is that generalizations are pointless. People just need to get over themselves and play good games.

Not an RPG or a BioWare game? Huh? I'll admit that I'm playing entirely on console, but are we both looking at the same game here?

RPG:
- Plot driven by player choices
- Player customizes Hawke's appearance, gear, skills, and talents
- Hawke gains experience and levels up through the game
- Player can choose their party and level up party members' skills and talents, as well

BioWare:
- RPG
- Mostly serious storyline with some well-written humor thrown in
- Diverse cast of party members including one who's just full of hate
- Romantic subplots with party members culminating in a love scene. I know they don't go all the way back through BioWare's history, but the infamous love scenes have been a part of every BioWare game since, what, Jade Empire?

Granted, DAII doesn't harken back to the glory days of Baldur's Gate nearly as much as the first game, but it does share a lot in common with Mass Effect 2, and that seems to be the way that the company is going design-wise.

It's the cycle of hatred. I believe that it was explained in the Lion King or some other well known work of philosophy.
Mein Kampf? Beyond Good and Evil?
If you establish two separate groups like console gamer and PC gamer then humans who identify with these groups are bound to act like animals and confront each other, imagining that some sort of advantage or territory can be gained from doing so. It's simple animal behaviour, and silly.

I see it more as two siblings fighting for the attention of their parents...

You see game developers as parental figures? Interesting, lay down on the couch and tell me more.

Chris Avellone has done for me than my parents ever did *sob*
So sometimes you wish that he would take you into his strong capable arms and comfort you when you are feeling that your parents love your sibling more than you? And what would you do then if he confided in you that he really enjoyed making action games for the xbox more than hardcore PC games?

Hey, this isn't a psychologist's office, this is a laundromat!

Cut his head off and wear it as a hat. Love is a terrible and violent thing.

Because PC has mods that players create to help fix game breaking bugs while console gamers are stuck with them.

Oh and TF2, that too.

Uuuuh... I didn't say it wasn't a Bioware game or an RPG, I just expressed my opinion.
Which is: I don't like DA2 as a Bioware game or an RPG, but I still like it :p
Apart from that I agree with your points. :D

I'm a pc gamer, but also i own consoles ps3, wii etc...

So why the hate ? :D
When people insult PC gamers, what they're talking about 99% of the time are PC elitists. Those who always shout "CONSOLIZED" and talk about how stupid Console Gamers are because they don't play Europa Universalis or Planescape: Torment or something. Or because they like Mass Effect 2 over the older BioWare titles. They deserve hate because of how condescending they get.
What he said. The problem is that it's March. People tend to get nasty around this time on this site. And PC Elitists are already an extremely nasty bunch, so imagine them having people feed into their petty little flamewars... *shudders*

Still, this site DOES have a lot of PC fanboys. And like I said, this time of year, they go from PC fans to members of the PC Master Race. Normally sane PC gamers just completely lose their mind...
hahahaha....does pc gamer still have a soul? i mean when u waste big years of your life playing WoW, EVE, FF XI? I don't have anything against console players but come on....never shall ya compare example FF 14 (which personally sucked b...!) on PS3 to they awesomeness of a great built PC on a 40 inch samsumg LED!

DAO and DAO 2 as awesome as they are...its a true argument Bioware makes you follow a pre-determined storyline such as in DAO when you have your only chance to have a healer which is the sorcerer i cant remember the name right now..but the 1st time i played i decided to kill her....boom no healer rest of the game...relying on the mage for healing...makes no sense

I believe its because PC gamers seem to have a large and vocal minority of elitist P.O.S who think there better then everyone. (I said minority! Not all of you are bad!)

Exactly, we are all of us gamers. There is no difference between us, we are brothers. And there's one thing we can all agree on: anyone who likes the wii is a total head-mental. PEACE AND LOVE PEACE AND LOVE

Parental figures? interesting indeed, i wanna hear more.

I see them as what they are capitalists like any others...sometimes they give you what you want..sometimes they just give you a nice trailer and a crappy game. Age of Conan, FF14 FML!

Because a lot of console games get insecure when you mention that the PC support your needs the best and then they have to call you an elitists.
i'm not insecure that i can't play my games on optimized settings like on a console and that i don't have to jump through the hoops of anti-virus, knowing how to put together and take apart a computer, and DRM before actually getting to run a game that may crash every few minutes or not.

i just don't like it when people say "PC can do more!" yes, but not as efficiently unless you're a super-genius who spent his/her whole life learning about ALL the proper ways to build a PC. It's not as easy as buying a console and just popping in a disc, and if PC gaming wants to match console gaming it has to get to THAT level of simplicity before anyone says "PC GAMINGZ IS NOT TEH DEADZ!!!!"

It's not necessarily about being a super genius, it's more about not being an idiot. Putting together a computer is pretty simple, you're just putting a bunch of parts together.

btw you don't need anti virus, I go without it.

Uh... what? Did I make you angry? If that is the case, I am sorry. In retrospect, I see I knida sounded like a dick in that post, I was just saying that around this time of the year, there are all sorts of flamewars going on. Most of the hate towards PC Gamers are towards the vocal minority who hate on console gamers. I wasn't hating on PC gamers, just the kind who sound like... well, the response you just made. If that was sarcasm, I'm having a hard time picking up on it.
