Seriously, this place is getting really in deph. diplomacy, political correctness, religion, moral choices.. Whats going on. I do enjoy a good in deph conversation but this is a place I like to chill and loose my mind.
I stick on some 80's music, or hang wit hmy friends, or play games (You probly guessed that one)

What do you guys do to just forget the world and all of its problems, and chill?

well, basically having a massive big thread and arguments makes the OP feel good. but every thread which does do this in the off topic discussion forum is one of two, ether a light hearted trivial question "what's your favourite band, showers or baths, what are you wearing right now" etc which ether get locked for being done before or too trivial. so we get a lot of the later which is a thread on a controversial topic which is bound to get riddled with many many arguments and debates spreading for many pages getting the OP a nice warm feeling and a badge.

The funny thing is that it's just the same repeated threads over and over again, with the same posts, over and over. This place is pretty redundant
Yeah, pretty sure this thread must have come up before. But then I guess we just discuss things relevant to our lives, which is pretty much all the same things: jobs, religion, hobbies, relationships, news items, and random stories.

In relation to the topic, guess games are the most effective way to losing myself, but even they are losing their effect on engrossing me.

I listen to Christian Bale flip out on a movie crew member. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssoZzNmD0I8&feature=related

Other than that, usually a really good game - doesn't matter what system - helps me escape.

I put on my 80's music, come onto here, ignore the repeat or inflammatory threads, contribute to the ones I'm interested in and chat on IRC. It isn't hard to ignore the parts I don't like, so I still enjoy my escapism.

Yeah! A fellow 80's music fan! I agree though, just ignore those threads obviously intended for argument and everything goes just peachy. I myself try to avoid making those threads too. There's a difference between good conversation (civility) and plain old trolling to start fights. Video games and just surfing the net to some tunes usually calms me down.

To be honest, I joined for the in-depth-ed-ness. Agreed they can get a bit touchy, but thats what intelligent discussion SHOULD be about. Yes we're gamers but the whole point of the site, publishing articles and the like, is to give our favorite past-time some thought - which it rarely gets.

To answer your subject title:

Because no one's paying me to be funny.

oh, and while stealing a line from a movie is sometimes witty, that particular phrase is a bit played out at the moment. less Batman and more Caddyshack, plz.

What do I do? I go for a walk. If that fails I go out with friends. If that fails too I drink my self into oblivion. Yes, I am a happy happy man :D

I listen to music, go for a walk, play with my cat or go out with friends. If all else fails I'll have a nap :D

It depends on my mood. Sports (fencing) are one way to unwind, to an extent at least. Of course, there's always video games. Failing that, I'm probably either reading, working, clicking the stumble button (it's like panning for gold on the internet!) or doing schoolwork. Average life of a college student I suspect.

Well, we are all here because we like games. There isn't much to discuss about games if we all like them, unless you want to read a thread with 50 pages answering "yup" to "do u liek gamez?"

Talking about controversial issues keeps things interesting because you can say so much about their topics.

As for what I do to relax? Do you have to ask?
