Controversial topics are for badge hunters.

Not that you can really get them in many other ways, with the exception of Forum Games & RP.

It can be hard to have a non-serious topic that goes anywhere. Talk about religion, sex, or politics, and the conversation goes on forever. It's like when the family gets together at Christmas, you don't talk about games or the best movie with Christopher Walken. You talk about the damn politicians using religion to back their views on gay-marriage. Now, admittedly it would be nice to get some light-hearted threads going. We need a thread about possible thread topics.

Why so serious? Well it's a serious world my friends, a serious, scary, fucked up world.

The geeks that are with us here today are probably as sane and as smart as a group of individuals get (Iron Ninja aside) and we should be concerned about politics/war/environment/racism/etc.

As for badge hunting, I got my 50+ post & 1,000+ view badge from the topic "Who would win in a fight? Samurai or Knight?". I was getting to the 500 post mark (I think it made it to 400) but unluckily said metallic shnobi got the thread locked.

We have the geekiness, but because we attract a more intelligent and thoughtful crowd we also like to move on from basic and repetitive discussions. Plus some people just like to know what the Escapists think of a certain subject.
