I love the gametype, but a lot of maps suck for it, while a few don't. My biggest qualm with Reach is the map design.

I like it on the right map, but I hate when people pick it even on a bollocks map. It's also the same with Team Snipers. What's wrong with normal Slayer?

I specifically play halo to get away from FPS's where you can kill someone before they have a chance to react.
Why don't these people go play cod if they want that?
FINALLY somebody says it!

Practice Headshotting. It's nice to change it up and go without radar.

Also apparently I'm good at it.

I personally cannot stand SWAT either. There are 3 things they could do to make me like it more.
-Make it ONLY pistols
-Give it a seperate playlist
-Or... get rid of it.

How would making it only pistols change anything? Pistols might have a smaller clip, but they also have a higher rate of fire, and can scope in, so it wouldn't really change anything.

Besides, I prefer the pistols in SWAT, so shut up, I don't want people knowing that they're good.
That's one of the reasons, the smaller clip. Since most of the fights in SWAT end up in fairly close quarters you may as well only have a handgun. You may remember in Halo 2 how there were SWAT magnums and carbines, right? I'd like to see SWAT have its own playlist, and more game variants.

I haven't seen that "one person dominating" thing going on, actually. Thing about SWAT is that it's quick, simple, and tactical. One has to be a lot more careful, quick, and precise, and teamwork is vital to guaranteed success. It's a really cool gametype because of that.

As a more shallow reason, you tend to get more kills in SWAT than in other gametypes, simply because if you have that speed and precision, it's quite easy to rack up a good amount of kills, which is great for the daily challenges.

I dislike SWAT, always have, probably always will. Every so often it's not a bad variant to play. But when you are forced to play it knowing you'll do terribly because some folks want to dominate other players then it's just plain boring and annoying.(read: Reaches voting system). Also, I agree that most of the maps in Reach are terrible for both SWAT and Team Snipers, to minimal or to closed turning them into short range pistol fights. What's the point of having a long gun if you are reduced to short or very close range combat?

More than likely SWAT will be given it's own playlist very soon. In the interim all players that don't want to play SWAT can do is take it as it comes, and hang in there. Or, find a group of pals and just play with them. One can also goto the Arena and play there.

Because people are idiots?

Why do you think so many people still quit 9/10 games they play, even though bungie clearly states they will be punished for it.

Because SWAT is probably the best game mode, it's easily my favourite and quite a lot of other peoples, mainly because there's less bullshit that goes on in that mode.

Because everyone has a hard-on for SWAT and Snipers. Apparently everyone fancies themselves the sharpshooter. My 21-6 every SWAT/Snipers game I play begs to differ. Please can we just go back to playing Slayer? I LIKE my jetpack and it's theonly reason I play that damn game!

Exactly.

Half my friends hate it and half my friends love it. Personally I hate SWAT with a passion. I'm not particularly accurate in the first place, but when I only have second to take the shot it's just terrible.

Who else finds it hilarious that all these people want to play the game type that most closely resembles Modern Warfare 2?

As for why they all want to play it, well, I can't really help there. Maybe they're all just fucking retarded or something. I thought the reason to get Halo was because it's the exact opposite of MW2?

SWAT was my favorite game-type in Halo 2, but they had to have done something in it in REACH because now if feels bland to me.
You see, I think one of the problems might be the difference between the BR and the DMR: No burst fire. If you bodyshotted, you could still spread it up and get the shot.

The other problem is that there are no power-ups. Halo 3's SWAT still had the power-ups dotted around the map, whilst in Reach they're all armour abilities, which are disabled for SWAT.

SWAT takes instinct! No map no powers just your gun! Use it!
Play modern warfare 2 if you only want guns. Halo is for run-and-gun-super-soldier-fun. I didn't buy reach so I could not use all the gameplay add-ons

I hate swat because I hate quick kills, just ruins what makes Halo, Halo. I just want to know why no one plays stockpile... I love that game mode.
